Getting measured or trying on? Empty Getting measured or trying on?

Post by Jojo6 29th November 2011, 1:15 pm

Ok girls, I am 5 days away from the 6 week mark and wohooooo I can wear normal non wired bras! I am sooo excited to free these boobs from these blimmin sports bras! :heehee:

I have already bought a couple of cheapy bras from debenhams which are 32 E. I didn't get measured, I just tried them on and they seem to fit ok. I do find however they are a tiny bit loose at the sides and squashed more at the front (Guessing due to the projection I had?). Given that different shops have major differences in sizes and that even bras in the same shop come up differently, how important is it actually to get properly measured or do many of you just go into a shop and try them on? help

This is all new to me....I always just purchased an A cup before and have NEVER ever been measured. Been too embarrassed to get my floppy bits out before!!! Do you get measured in each shop you go in to? How are bra fitters reactions to boob jobs? Silly really but having never done it before, I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing! Blush

The lady I saw in Debenhams was really nice about my ba, I thought she might have been a bit snotty about it but she wasnt.

In my experience they only measure your band width anyway and get a couple of cup sizes that they guess at from looking only.

I HATE the way some shops do this "add four if even add five if odd" bollerks - its so confusing - F&F do it this way and so do Ann Summers - why not just say if you measure 32 round your ribs then buy a 32 size bra - its a nuisance!

Why do they do this?? I measure 29" around but a 30" band is too tight! Why? A 32 is perfect but dont understand why its called 30/32/34 if its NOT!! M an S measured me as a 34(added on 5 inches) but 34 really is too big as i need it on tighest hooksxxx

I think Bravissimo are FAB! They are in the room with you to check how the bras fit,and tell you how to check on your own. When I was fitted there (having been measured a 34D in M&S) she brought me a 32E and 30F to try on and the 30F fitted perfectly. I think it's best to be fitted properly, and once you know how a perfectly fitted bra feels you're more able to tell for yourself.

Annaliese,it does depend on the shop. I tried on a 30 band in M&S yesterday, and it was nowhere near doing up! Whereas the 30 from Bravissimo is fine, fits nicely. I think you will fluctuate in band and cup sizes depending on bra and shop, but the one thing I know for sure is that the "Add some on" thing is total crap! x

I used to wear a 32B, Im now fitting perfectly in a 34E... she checked said yup thats great but ill just measure you. She told me I measure a 36!!! Im a size 10 and 34band fitted perfectly so how can they say hmmm it fits but its not what my tape measure says Screwy x

Do you find that cheaper stores do bras that fit BA girls? I went into primark just to browse in anticipation of my new boobs, but the biggest 32 band bra i could find was a c. Do they do bigger cup sizes with smaller bands?

Not sure I will be able to afford expensive bras after paying £7000 for my boobs! lol xx

Thanks ladies. It's tricky isn't it, as there seem to be so many differences on sizes. I agree Kat4 & Annaliese, would be so much easier if the size you measured was the actual band size!

Thanks Spittingfairy, I'll give Bravissimo a go! Yes definitely be good to get an idea of what fits and what doesn't. As I haven't been measured before I haven't a clue if I've been wearing poorly fitted bras before & def want to take good care of these new assets! Lol.

Lol Clare. I think you've just convinced me that although good to get measured, you also know how it feels yourself & shouldnt wholeheartedly rely on the fitter! Thanks hun xxx
