Hello !

SO I have my first consultation soon and I want to be as prepared as I can.
I thought I knew quite a lot about BA's but the more I read the more I get confused! Ive tried to google this but nothing sums it up clearly, so could someone please explain to me the difference between:

Overs/ sub-facial/ under = what difference do they make?

Round/ Anatomical/ Conical= The more I look the less I see the difference. Some are obvious but some not really especially between furrys and round. I find some look exactly the same in the end..

High profile/ low profile?= Is that the fake look factor?

I love the implants that are very full at the bottom. Is there anyway to upload a wish pic so i could show you and you could tell me what 'look' they are? I think they look natural but my husband says they are so fake ! ugh!

Thank you so much, sorry for being annoying ! shrug

Pretty new to it myself but from my research:

Overs are under the breast tissue but above the muscle
Unders are under the muscle that is behind the breast tissue.
Subs or partials are half under the muscle (upper pole) and the lower pole is over the muscle.

From my understanding it all depends on your anatomy as to which is best for a person. I have overs as I had breast tissue (saggy c cup).

Round implants are round, Anatomical are the pear shape, and Conical are cone shaped. Couple of links to catalogues that show the different dimension of implant profiles [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The low, moderate, high and extra high are the projection of the implant. The above catalogues show this also.

Have you had alook at real self. You can see lots of pics of different types that might help with the look.

Hope this is helpful xx

Placement - you have the fatty tissue, a wall of muscle, then ribs etc. There's some pretty goo illustrations online. Overs will be under breast tissue, but over the muscle. Unders will be partially under the muscle at the top. Full unders is more for reconstruction or trans ops. I'm not familiar with sub facial. It'll all depend how much tissue you have to cover the implant. If you're very bony in the chest, or no breast tissue, they'll go under to cover it better.

Shape will depend what you're trying to achieve, but a round implant will eventually drop to a tear shape anyway, so don't be scared of them. I thought I had to have anatomicals for a natural look, but that's not true. Anatomicals and conical are also good if you're borderline lift.

Projection does NOT equal fake factor. I have extra high profile, because I have a very narrow breast width diameter. Think of it like a bowl vs a cup. They can hold the same amount, but one is wide and shallow, the other deep and slim. It'll be dependant on your bwd, within a 1cm tolerance. But certainly don't think xhp means fake.

Implants become full at the bottom once they fluff. This is where the goo settles with gravity, and they go from box fresh D shape, to more a b with a nice gentle slope. This is how the rounds become tear shaped.

As long as you know what look you want, take in plenty of pics, and make sure the surgeon understands what you want to achieve. Then they should be able to suggest the right implant for you

Thank you !! Both your explanations really helped and I understand much better.

Totally agree with your opinion of round/ tear drop Charlii. And yes I know exactly what i want and what I dont want so hopefully all my wish boobs and must-not-look-like-those boobs will give my surgeon exactly what he needs !
Is everyones phones filled with boobs too? Im so embarrassed at the thought of someone going through my pictures haha !

Will keep all that in mind when i see my surgeon, can't wait to tell you about it all!

Thank you very much ! x

OMG totally, I blushed ridiculously this am, as I dropped my little boy off at school, I bent down to kiss him and my phone fell out my pocket.
OMG, I thought 'my boobie pics'!

Would be mortified if anyone found my phone lol!

Glad I'm not alone!

The girls have answered all the questions really well so no need for me to explain either.  I liked the anatomical shaped too but my surgeon said they might not be a good idea for me.  He said they are often used in patients that have a low laying nipple (or slightly saggy boobs after breast feeding etc) as the shape pushes the nipple more upward facing.  He said mine are quite central / high on my boobs anyway so thought it might not look right.

I've learnt a lot since the last consultation I had on Tues - I also learnt that due to me having a narrow chest its better to go for high profile.  I could only have smallish implants with a medium profile implant as they are wider the bigger you go.

Got another consultation tomorrow so hopefully I'll be expert by then!

Oh and yes - my phone is totally full of pics.  My 7yo daughter loves looking through my photos so every time she grabs my phone I keep grabbing it right back!

In taking all the pics you have to your consultations with you of what you like & don't like the surgeon using their expertise will be able to advise on which implant shape/size etc is best suited to get you your desired result ,as just describing what you are after you cant be sure the surgeon is visualising what you are meaning. As others have said everyone's anatomy is different & the same impact on two different people can get totally different results.

Cant wait for my first consultation !
So annoying I might have to go with my children now as my husband can't take the day off work. Should make it interesting.... nope

Just check that your ok to take your children, my clinic were quite strict about not taking children in.
And I know Transform are the same.

Good Luck x

I would definitely try and find a sitter. Not just because some clinics can be iffy about it, but also is it something you want your kids seeing/hearing? Mommy's going to be cut open and have something put inside her. I'm not sure how old yours are, but I would have a think about what, how, and when you want them to know, if at all. Remember, kids will repeat EVERYTHING in the playground!

Also, just to correct the above, anatomical is just as good as round for lower pole. As I said before, rounds move into the teardrop shape anyway. Anatomicals can be used to corred certain issues, like borderline lift, or as Loui had, snoopy/waterfall issues, and are also good if you have zero breast tissue or a particularly bony chest. But if it's just full lower you're after, either one can achieve this.
