I'm sure I've read somewhere that people were advised not to use moisturiser, body lotion or deodorant on the day of their op. Did I dream this? My surgeon hasn't mentioned anything about it. Xx

Yes I didn't put any cream or deodorant on. Also wash in hibb wash the day of surgery. You can get it from boots. It's a antiseptic body wash x x

I wasn't told not to but didn't as I had read it on here.
I just washed in my usual shower gel the morning of the op as he said I didn't need to do anything differently. They will ensure you're fully clean and covered in iodine in theatre anyway xx

Hi
I had good shower with simple soap then ten mins before I went to theatre was told to just shower at the hospital with warm water. Your clinic should advise you of what they require x

They need you unperfumed basically, so regular shampoo and soap is fine. No deodorant, perfumes, lotions. It can mask things, and chemical make ups can interfere in the surgery too. You don't need to get the hisbi scrub, whatever you use daily is fine. Some clinics will actually provide you with stuff and ask you shower beforehand. Mine would have, but they were delayed getting me into my rooms, so it was a quick 'you showered this morning right?' into my gown and off we went!

Thanks ladies. My letter says to shower before I go (that was already a given) but doesn't mention anything else. I'll just leave it all off. How sweaty can you get on a 40 min car journey knowing that what you've wanted for a long time is just a few hours away? My guess is very ;-) x
