Tape over incisions
The nurse at my 1 week appointment said the tape over my incisions would come off in its own time. I'm 2 weeks post op tomorrow, how long is it normal for the original tape to stay on for? I'm worried about it trapping infection now I'm showering every morning (I do dry them with the hairdryer). On the other side I'm also worried about it coming off to early lol.
Everything looks fine at the mo, no sign of infection or anything like that, and it's still pretty well stuck on xxx

Re: Tape over incisions
It was Hun, like you I was a bit worried about it being a bit manky But all was fine. I think they stayed on so long cos I was very thorough about making sure they were properly dried with the hairdryer after showering x

Re: Tape over incisions
What sort of tape is it? I just had micropore strips that I had to change daily during wk2 post shower, then leave them clear after that. I wouldn't worry about it, if you're drying them out properly and not leaving them damp in any way, the chances of infection are slim to none. You've hit 2wks now, so I wouldn't worry about too early either. Just stave off the temptation to pick them until they're hanging on by a thread!

@[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - thanks hun - makes me feel a bit better.
@[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - I think its just micropore tape, but they said they had sprayed something over it to help waterproof it? I have no intention of picking it.... in fact im dreading it coming off in a way - its like my security blanket haha.

Re: Tape over incisions
The tape on mine is over 3 weeks old and still shows no sign of coming off! I had strict instructions not to remove it or you can risk infection/damage. I was told to wait till it was pretty much hanging off then gently peel it off in the shower with the steam etc xxxx

Re: Tape over incisions
The first time I had to remove them myself I had a full on freak out. Because obviously my boobs are going to fall off as soon as you remove the tape . I had to get D to do it in the end, lie on the bed with my eyes closed and butt clenched!! He sterilised some tweezers and did it so carefully bless him!
