Follow up appointments after BA
Hi ladies I know this seems like a stupid question but if your travelling out of town to have your BA. As in, I'm having mine done in Manchester but live in Nottingham lol where do you have follow up apointments ? Like when you have stitches out or just a general check up after your BA ? Also how soon after the BA would you have an appointment ? Surely i wouldn't have to go all the way back to Manchester ? My consultation was in Nottingham, not far from my house but having to go to a hospital in Manchester for the actual op. I'm worried and confused as 18th is approaching fast

Are you going private or commercial clinic? My op was in Birmingham, but I live in the SE, so I attended the London clinics. Discuss it with them, there may be local clinics that you can attend for wound checks, or your surgeon may work from other clinics that are closer by

Re: Follow up appointments after BA
Hi I'm going private. I feel stupid this has only just occurred to me now to be honest. Think I'll phone them first thing and ask. Cus surely I wouldn't have to travel so far for follow ups ?! Who knows what state I'll be in or fit to travel lol so I'm really hoping it's gonna be local. Is the follow up like a week or two after the BA generally ? x

I think it's something you are going to have to phone and ask. It all depends on the clinic. Xxx

Re: Follow up appointments after BA
My surgeon was private, and despite being based at 1 spire hospital he also worked at about 3 other spire and Nuffield hospitals in the area on alternate weeks so you may find your surgeon is located somewhere on occasion. It's a little unfair if you were able to have your pre op appointments locally but you can't see the surgeon in the same location post op. Fingers crossed you can!

I would have hoped the check ups would be at the local clinic where you had your consultation. Let us know how you get on, I'm curious :) x

I had the consultation in Nottingham, so I'm hoping that's the case. It was just the thought that occurred to me earlier, that id not asked the clinic (silly me) and it won't be open until morning to phone. So figured Id log on here and ask you ladies lol cus it's pretty much helping me loads right now lol x

Re: Follow up appointments after BA
Hi, so iv just finished talking to the clinic and was told I'm having dizovable stitches, so won't need them taken out. Will have a follow up with a local nurse at my local GP surgery and then a follow up with surgeon himself, also at the nearest clinic to me in Nottingham. So thank goodness I haven't gotta go back to Manchester again lol

Ooo your local GP surgery? I guess that's to change the dressings? I thought you pay the clinic to do your aftercare?

Re: Follow up appointments after BA
Hi Yep that's what the clinic said, is that not normal then ? I wouldn't know any different as obviously this is all new to me. But I was told the clinic will contact my GP and schedule an appointment. Which is news to me as well, considering iv not even told my GP myself as I'm going private. But she said I'll have to see the nurse there if that's closest to me. Followed by going to the clinic to see Surgeon x
