Timing of pre ops?
Hi ladies, just wondering how close to the big op, do you have your pre op? And also once you have had your pre op how long do you wait for results, do they do full blood count too and then do they contact you to say if it's game on?.. Bit of a weird post but something I've been thinking of.. Many thanks ladies :-)
If Sarahlou222 reads this .. How did you find the admin at hospital we probably have different team but still not heard anything :-/ , hope your still healing well hunnie xx

Re: Timing of pre ops?
Hi, never a weird post, if you have something on your mind then it needs answering. I had my pre op 4 days before my op. They did 2 blood tests. One for group and save, and one for a full blood count. Some girls have there ore op in the way of a questionire. Others over the phone and some go to the clinic. It can consist of Mrsa swabs. UTube samples and blood. Blood pressure etc. every clinic is different . Some girls have a pre op a week before, some the day before. Xxxx

Re: Timing of pre ops?
Mines was roughly a week before, had been sent a pre op questionnaire in post & was to take that with me.
Pre op consisted of going over questionnaire with nurse ,weight ,blood pressure & urine sample took around 15- 20 mins in total. X

Re: Timing of pre ops?
Heyyy Im hereeee :)
The Yorkshire clinic do 2 pre op appts. I rang the clinic to ask about pre op appts and they told me the letter was in the post.. I never received it (probably down to my postman) so I requested a new one.
It took a while to come through and I was panicking.. but when I got it, it was hugeeeee, leaflets, paper work, times, instructions - was a weight off my shoulders.
I had to change the pre op apt times as one, I was out the country and the other during work time.
Jackie Seel is the best person to talk to. In the end I ONLY spoke to her because I got different information from different people. She works on the out patients desk: 01274 550 819
My first pre op was 20th and second was 27th, the second one had to be within 7 days.
1st: literally took 3 tubes of blood and that was it.(10 minutes)
2nd: Jackie Seel went through medical history, any questions I had, blood test (30 minutes.. and I didn't have many questions, felt like she had all the time in the world for me)
They said they were doing a full blood count and checking what blood type I was.
I didn't hear anything after the blood test so I took it as no news = good news :D
The surgeon was around on the second pre op so I could ask him anything I wanted to.
I did ask on here about why I had 2 pre ops - I am yet to find any other clinic that does, but all I can say is they are thorough.
It will be the same team as me. I found Jackie amazing and very helpful, one number I rang was a young girl and she annoyed me, never passed messages etc.
I do have 2 friends who went through the Yorkshire clinic and everything went very smooth. I thought it was just me lol. xx
I'm doing very well thank you :) xx

Re: Timing of pre ops?
I've rung my clinic today to ask the same thing as we are going away 2 weeks before my date. She said they have to do it within 2 weeks - I don't know if that applies across the board or different clinics vary but mine will be the week before xx

Re: Timing of pre ops?
Mine was about 1-2wks before, and was over the phone. They called to ask my next of kin, and results from last BP test. Rang my gp to check, called them back to tell them. Never had any bloods or mrsa. On the morning I did a sample, they took BP, height, weight, allergies and history questionnaire, and done.

Re: Timing of pre ops?
I hope mines over the phone but I believe it's at the hospital. Very annoying as I live in London and the hospital is in Birmingham so long way to travel. I'm also 3 weeks a bit to go and havent heard from the hospital at all regarding a date for my PO. I'm not sure what to do as I obviously have work to think about as well as train tickets!!
