Flying after Surgery?
Hey Girls
To get the surgeon I want, I have to go to London, which I'm happy to do but does leave me with a few problems with planning.
I would prefer to fly home the next day but not sure if the surgeon would be allow that. If surgery was a day case, I'd be resting in the hotel until the next day. So if I left the clinic at around 2pm, I'd have 24 hours rest before getting the cab to the airport then an hour and a half flight. I'd have someone with me so no issues with lifting, boarding, etc. Then a 15 minute car journey home.
Given the short time on the plane and distance to my home, do you think the surgeon would allow this? Has anyone done the same or taken advice on this? X

Re: Flying after Surgery?
Hello
I think the problem would be, after a op and being under GA, do you really feel up to flying? Mentally, physically, there are a couple of people who have done it, but spend maybe 2-3 days instead of 24 hours.
The decision would have to be done to your surgeon as to whether he would allow you to flu so quickly.
And you'd have to ask how the aftercare would work, would you keep having to go back?
May I ask why you want to visit this surgeon in London? Xx

Re: Flying after Surgery?
Hey Sarahlou
Thanks for your reply. :)
The surgeon's a specialist in the type of implant I think I'd be suited to (my first BA/surgeon didn't really go so well). From all the reviews I've read and research I've done, he's the only one I'd go to for the conical implants.
He works in Chelmsford too but London is more practical from Edinburgh. I'm prepared to fly back and forth for aftercare. One thing I've learned is to never compromise in terms of the best possible option of implant, surgeon, technique and experience! Not that I thought I did on my first BA, but it wasn't the best experience ever.
Of course I'd need to wait until after the consult before I know for sure but he does seem to be the master in conicals.
I had no issues in terms of recovery and healing from my first op so I'm hoping it'll be the same this time round. My partner is blind so although we'll have help while I recover, I'd rather not be away too long. I think being home would help on a mental/emotional level too. You know when you feel unwell and you just want your own bed and other half giving you big hugs? Bliss! Lol
Have you had your surgery yet? Xx

Mr Georgeu??
I'm so sorry to hear you were not happy with your first surgeon, I'm so happy that you have found a surgeon you feel is suited to you now. Have you had a consultation yet?
And he works for transform in London? (From your profile info)
The only thing I would say to you is check your aftercare with transform!!! There's a lot of very happy girls on here but also some having problems with aftercare.
There's a lovely lady on here who's had the name implant and the same surgeon (If it is Georgeu) she had them done in Jan.. And they look fab, I'm sure she'll be around here soon :)
I'm having mine done for the first time in 10 days... I can't wait!!! I've been on here about 2 months so I learnt loads :) xx

Re: Flying after Surgery?
Yep, he's the one! :)
No, he's not a Transform surgeon, thankfully! I know they have many good surgeons too but I've gone to Mr Georgeu directly.
Yeah I've spoken to the lovely herself, she has fantastic boobs and seems so happy with them. If I'm as happy at the end of this year, travel, cost, etc will all have been worth it! I'm glad you found this site helpful too, don't know what I'd do without it. Yup, I'm on my phone too, typing on here isn't the easiest! Lol
Good luck for your op Sarahlou, hope it all goes well and keep us updated! Xx

Hey Roses
Fantastic profile pic!
Ouch, that could've be so painful! I remember going over the biggest pot hole on the hours drive home when I got mine done, don't think I could breath for about a minute after! Lol
How long did you eventually wait before going home and how far were you traveling if you don't mind me asking? Xx

Re: Flying after Surgery?
Instead of flying I got the boat home !! Flight was only and hour or so, boat took 2.5 hours but sooooo comfy and meant I could move about freely ! Seriously hun I'd leave it at least 24 hours before flying :-)

Re: Flying after Surgery?
Thanks, Roses. I'll definitely take the advice of the surgeon but if he does say it's ok, I'll try leaving it for two days. It's just really difficult when you have a disabled partner at home. You're just so used to thinking of their needs first. Ironically, he's always trying to put me first, so it's just trying to get the balance. Xxx
Becky - That's what I love about this site, everyone's so helpful. Sarahlou is the bobbie guru! Lol Xx

Re: Flying after Surgery?
There's been a couple girls fly home after their op, I know one girls surgeon stopped working in Edinburgh, so she had to fly to Manchester for her reop. Discuss it thoroughly with your surgeon, but as you'll be landing as soon as you're taking off, it should be ok. Will you have someone with you for the journey home? That'll be key, it'll be tricky carrying bags putting things into overhead lockers, getting bashed in crowds, you'll feel exhausted too.

Re: Flying after Surgery?
im also quite worried as I'm going to be going on a flight the next day after my op. Its a short flight of only 25-30mins but its very bumpy, being a small plane and leaving the windiest city in NZ soo i am a little scared pain wise!! I'm thinking if its only the next day, i will still have enough GA and other drugs in my system to help counteract the pain lol seeing as day 3 is normally the worst for most ladies. Would much rather a quick bumpy flight then a 3 hour ferry which could be rough anyways haha
