Looking through all of my paperwork and it says advised not to fly long haul 12 weeks after BA. I've recently cancelled myself off a girls holiday as I will only be 6 weeks post op! :( xx

That'll be too early post-op, plus you probably wouldn't feel like it x

Hi bizzyboobs, I've heard not until at least the 6 week check with the surgeon but Emily above has a good answer. Also ask your surgeon because some people have been told your not meant to sunbath up to 6 months because your newly stretched skin can easily burn and you need to be careful of your scars ...
I'm also having my op in September! The 8th and then my bday is on the 23rd! Xx

Re: Flying after a B.A.
The department of health recommends that patients undergoing major surgery do-not fly long haul for 12 weeks after their surgery. This is due to your increased risk of deep vein thrombosis. All other patients are advised that there is an increased risk if they fly within 2 weeks of surgery. X
Re: Flying after a B.A.
ooh great post, i now need to fly short haul for a business trip the day i return to work (great) which will be day 17 post op for me.
very much hoping this will be ok!!
but bizzy, for 8 days post op i wouldnt risk booking anything yet to be honest as you just won't know what you will feel like, and then at the destination you will of course have to take it easy as well x

Re: Flying after a B.A.
I would say although you may be ok to fly, you may need permission to fly from a GP (not sure) and you would also need to tell the people providing your travel insurance, they may ask for extra to cover you, or they may just say you are not covered for anything to do with your surgery.
Re: Flying after a B.A.
I have flown short haul at 4 weeks before. At 8 days post op I wouldn't have wanted to go far as had no energy. xxx

Re: Flying after a B.A.
Thanks everyone, I did ring the hospital to check, definitely no long haul for 10-12 weeks. Can do short haul after 2 weeks..... If no problems.......
Specialkj we share the same birthday, won't we have a nice present?
Think I will make most of relax, I don't do relaxing very well. Can't keep still for 2 mins. It's going to be very hard for me.
Thanks for all posts. Xx
