Re: flying
Gemma I am pretty sure it is 8 weeks long haul.....mainly due to the risk of DVT ??? I may be wrong...
Short haul I believe it much less time (2weeks in my head). Hopefully someone "in the Know" can confirm this.

Re: flying
Hi Gemma, this was 1 of the first questions I asked when booking my ba, my surgeon recommended at least 2wks for shortish flight such as spain etc like krizzooo1 said, due to risk of dvt, longer for further afield, prob best giving clinic a ring for definite answer though xx

Re: flying
Usual NHS guideline is 2 weeks post surgery in short haul flights and anything from 6 - 12 weeks before they recommend long haul flights. This is condition specific.
Saying that you always have to follow your hospitals advice and also airline guidelines. And always consult your travel insurance company too as they may invalidate your policy if you fly before they recommend it.
So there is no clear answer to it really.

Re: flying
I think it's 2-4 short, 12 long, but it's guidelines only. Its to do with the clotting. I would double check with your surgeon to be sure.

Re: flying
I was told 6 weeks. I vaguely remember this was so that I wasn't too far away if anything went wrong and I needed to go back in xx
