Filled with dread!
Anyone else filled with dread in the mornings at actually sitting up! It's so so painful! Like I have two torpedoes on my chest! I'm ok once I get started but the initial wake up is horrible :(
Also I'm due bk at work on Monday as surgeon gave me a 2 week sick note, however my doctors did a sick note a few days later which actually means I don't have to go bk till the week after and I really don't know what to do! If I go by and can't manage I'm a bit stuck, or do I take the extra week and make sure I'm fully ready! I'm 13 days post op! Generally once I get going I'm ok, just some twinges in the day but then I have been resting and not doing too much just pottering around!
Really don't know what do to do! Xxx

Hi, take as much time off as you can. And it sounds like morning boob to me. Try sleeping slightly elevated. Morning boob is normal and does get better. It really hurts that! You just know when you wake. You think oh no, I have to get up now and you know what's coming xxx

Make sure you try and go for some gentle walks in the day.. I found it really helped me. Helps with the mind too. It drove me mad being indoors xx

Sleep elevated. Doesn't mean upright though. If you type morning boob into the search bar, there should be some topics on this. Once your up and moving it does go in a short time. Xx

Yep literally soon as I've sat up and walked a bit it's gone and I think what am I moaning about its just that split second thought when Ive just woke up! I'm so pleased it will eventually go! I've been pottering and gone for a walk to get out the house as I am climbing the walls! I know in the long run the rest is good, I'm just not good at resting I like to be doing! be worth it xx

Re: Filled with dread!
It just sounds like morning boob. Where you've been still for so long, all the swelling and fluid settles. Then when you get up in the morning it all rushes back around your boobs and feels hot and achy. It doesn't last too long, around 3-4wks as the swelling subsides. One day you'll wake up and realize it's gone!
Work wise...well, if you've got the time off and you can take it, I would to be honest. Better safe than sorry! Depends what you do really. If you've a very physical job, it's likely worth taking g the extra time. But if you're a desk worker, if you feel up to it, go back. Listen to your body, it'll tell you what's right.

I have a V shaped pillow that I sleep on with my normal pillows underneath. Keep me elevated just enough with out being uncomfortable.

Re: Filled with dread!
Everything you describe sounds normal. If you want, an ice pack over the tops of your boobs for half and hour will help lots, but like you say, once you're up and moving its fine too.
When you go back to work? Well, if morning boob is your only concern then you're fine to go back 'if you want to' and save your sick days. But if you're overly tired and feel you'd benefot from the additional time off then take it!
It's really up to you feel Charlie. Xx

Re: Filled with dread!
Propped myself up with my v pillow last night and was much easier this morning, thanks guys! As for work I'm going to wait and see how I feel sunday, but thinking at the moment probably take the extra week as won't affect any sick days or holiday. Probably best to get as much rest as I can before the usual daily grind xxx

Glad the v pillow helped!
The extra week will do you the world of good ,you'll feel so much better by then, going from resting after surgery back into work/ daily routine can take a lot out of you initially. XXX

Re: Filled with dread!
Gembo, it's really not so bad, and it only lasts a few seconds/ minutes. Think of it like a head rush for your boobs when you get up!
