Opinions would be greatly appreciated
Hi ladies!
Just wanting to seek a bit of advice from you all. I am looking into booking consultations and know i want to book one with the harley medical group and the hospital group. It has always been my plan from day one to go to at least 3 consultations before i made a decision on where to have my surgery as i want to be sure i have chosen the right surgeon. Id really like opinions on a third company to have (or not to have) a consultation with, preferably in the north east.

Re: Opinions would be greatly appreciated
I'd very much recommend you see a BAAPS surgeon.
You can see these surgeons either through their private practices or via small clinics such as Spire, The Nuffield, BMI, BUPA.
Seeing a BAAPS surgeon however doesn't come for free. You have to pay for their experience and this could cost anything from £100-£200.
However, if money is an issue MyBreast who only use BAAPS surgeons will only charge £25 no matter which surgeon you see.
You'll have a lot more time an experience with a BAAPS surgeon and their expertise is well worth every penny.
Just my personal opinion though. X

Definitely a baaps surgeon in a private hospital. Find out surgeons who work close to you home, do some research on them and then see if they have their own websites as a few will offer a free consultation (the minority admittedly!). Mine worked for spire, BMI and Nuffield but offered a free consultation via his website. But £150 is really worth the money like you say, I paid that for another baaps surgeon consultation and he was very thorough and informative! Good luck!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] if you go to yhe diary entry bit of this website, I've written up my experience of going to HMG, THG and a BAAPS surgeon.. I paid £100 to see Mr Foo but he's the one I've booked. And actually there was much difference in the price of the actual surgery.. But I feel I am in much better hands :) xx

I had a BAAPS surgeon and paying £100 for the consult was so worth it.. About 3 years ago I went for a consult with a 'chain' group and it put me off having it done although I did nearly go ahead with it.. Sooooo glad I didn't and it took me ages researching different surgeons and I was super happy when I found the one I did.. The consult was an hr 20mins compared to my 20min one I had before and everything was explained.. I felt in completely safe hands.. In terms of price overall it was a little more but it's your body at the end of the day and I'd rather pay more for the best result than get a budget boob job xxxxx

I had a BAAPS surgeon too that worked in different locations. Again paid more for that, but I didn't want it any other way. Very pleased with everything. Xxx

Re: Opinions would be greatly appreciated
I went to Harley St and was so disappointed, I didn't even get to speak to a surgeon, just some silly receptionist type person.
I then went to MyBreast, because they only charged £25, but the surgeon hardly looked at me and the whole thing was rather uninformative.
I then found a private surgeon (as the girls have suggested above) it was a personal recommendation so felt at ease. Cost me £100 for the pleasure but was SO worth it. Whole different experience. THAT said, I am glad I did the two free/cheaper ones first so I could see how good the private surgeon was in comparison x

I used mybreast and it has all been brilliant. Although i did ask for a specific surgeon who i knew was a founding partner.
Ps they were cheaper than all the surgeons I had consults with. Good luck

Re: Opinions would be greatly appreciated
I'm with the others on this,it's definately worth having a consultation with a BAAPS registered surgeon.
They have years of experience and are up to date with all the latest techniques & due to BAAPS stringent scheme to ensure members are monitored you'll know you are seeing a surgeon at the top of their field of expertise & in good hands.
Although you have to pay for consultations you are given all the time needed to discuss everything possible in depth relating to your surgery which isn't always the case at a free consultation with a commercial clinic.
Good luck with your consultations , let us know how you get on. XXX

Re: Opinions would be greatly appreciated
The thought of just seeing a sales rep really puts me off some companies and i dont mind paying for a consultation or paying extra for the surgery because its something im going to have for the rest of my life and i dont want to regret it. My day is going to be filled with more surgeon research - thanks ladies
Sarahlou222 ive read your diary and its been very informative, thanks very much.

It's worth also taking into account Rachael that with a BAAPS surgeon you will always have direct contact to them. With the large commercial clinics they do not allow for this. You will allocated a Patient Care Co-Ordintor and these women are the doorway between you and your surgeon. Also....the surgeons at this the large clinics also rotate on a monthly basis, so if you're having a problem at a time when you're surgeons away from the clinic, if it's serious, you'll need to see a different surgeon, you don't have 100% full access to your surgeon. Whereas a BAAPS surgeon....they're always there. X
Re: Opinions would be greatly appreciated
ok, so ive booked myself in with a BAAPS surgeon and also booked in with THG, but the surgeon they have assigned me for my initial consultation isnt someone i can find much research on and even on the search on here their is very little information. Does anyone know if i can ask to have a different surgeon?

Re: Opinions would be greatly appreciated
I also couldn't find reviews on my PS online (but could read up about his qualifications etc) I now know this is mainly because almost all of his work comes from word of mouth recommendations. He was brilliant too, very experienced.
So as long as when you meet him you feel at ease, can have a look at his previous work images and agree with his advice for you, its worth going for xx

Yes 9 days post op now and feeling great! Taking things slowly and not lifting anything heavy/doing strenuous work or driving. I've had no pain so far at all, boobs still under my armpits though! Can't wait for them to drop a bit.
My bf is loving my new lazy 'Can't do' attitude...not!
Glad you're all booked in, when are your consultations? xx

Re: Opinions would be greatly appreciated
As it's through THG Rachael, you can always meet him and if you don't click see another surgeon, with THG the meetings with the surgeons are free anyhow.
I have heard of mr paganelli , and I think there have been a couple of ladies here that have had him.
You can always see what he recommends and have that as your comparison for you baaps surgeon. Or another. Surgeon within THG x

Re: Opinions would be greatly appreciated
My first one is with THG on Tuesday 27th, another with MYA on the 28th and then one on February 13th with Mybreast
Glad to hear your feeling good, I think the not driving part will be hard for me, I'm not usually one for sitting in all day but I wouldn't put my new puppies at risk!! Have you had any follow ups yet? Xx

Re: Opinions would be greatly appreciated
Don't forget to take with you a note pad and pen to enable you to write down the surgery planned for you and also write down any questions you want to ask too because you do forget to ask questions when you're in there and you forget what was said when you come out lol. So it just helps to have that when making comparisons. Xx
