Hi,
Was just wondering if anyone here who has had a ba suffers from psoriasis? If so did you have any problems post op around your incision site or anywhere else? Or if you have had a ba with no skin issues it would also be good to hear about. I only suffer from it mildly but am still a little concerned about it. My op is in 9 days! Eeek!
Thanks in advance.

Do you take any auto-immune suppressants to control your psoriasis Annie? Xx

No. It's only mild. I think only people with severe cases take those. I just use a UVB lamp at home.

It's something you should have you surgeon be aware of even if it is just mild and they 'may' want to take some bloods at a pre-op just to ensure everything is OK. They may well not given how mild it is. But I'd imagine you'll be just fine.

Psoriasis runs right through my family, I got the rheumatoid arthritis instead (both related) I do know from family members that stress can make the psoriasis flare up, not sure if yours reacts in this way too, but if it does, just try and relax through your build up and recocovery and you should be fine along with your surgeon monitoring you too. My mum is a sufferer of psoriasis too and had to have surgical procedure on her wrist, hers is quite bad with it and it didn't affect the incision site at all if that's of any help to you Annie? Xx

Thanks Cookie :)

I don't recall discussing my psoriasis with my surgeon but I did with a different one who was only concerned if I had it where my incisions would be. I have my pre-op on Thursday so will discuss it then. I'm not sure if stress affects my skin or not to be honest. It's hard to tell. Thanks for sharing about your mum. It's good that her surgery site wasn't  adversely affected. Xx

That's OK Annie, I'm glad to have been able to tell you about her so you hopefully won't worry.

Yes, do bring it up at your pre-op. It shouldn't be a problem at all but it's always best to be as honest as possible so surgeons, anaesthetists and yourself all know there won't be any surprises post-op that wernt discuss pre-op. Xx
