For most girls under general, a 1night stay is the norm, but within the contract its written that they wont discharge you until you are fit and healthy to go. If you're having a late op with drains, this could well mean a 2night, but you could get on OK and be out in one. Its perfectly normal.

Re: How long in hospital?
Hi. ,
Charli has said it all regarding answering your question.
Just wanted to say as you are pre op you may find the Breast Augmentation information section of use to you as it has so much info to help you better prepare for your upcoming op.
Pop a post in the Newbies Say Hello section if you like, to introduce yourself to the forum & where the lovely ladies on here can welcome you.
As you have your op date you may also like to pop a post in the Calendar Entries section that way we can add your date to the calendar & everyone can send you their good luck wishes on the day.
You may also find the Diaries Section of great help , it gives you a better understanding of what to expect both pre & post op/ during recovery.
Enjoy the forum Charlie , we have a fab bunch of ladies on here who I'm sure will make you feel more than welcome & answer any questions you may have, where they possibly can. XXX

Re: How long in hospital?
An uplift is a very different surgery to a Breast Augmentation and it's very common for surgeons to want to have their patients in their care for a couple of days due to the higher risk of infection involved. I've had a two day period before with one of my ops (Mastopexy) and with this up and coming op ive been told because the surgery im having is a little more invasive than a Breast Augmentation, I may have to stay two nights then as well.
My advise to you Charlie would, as difficult as it might be, would be to prepare for being away from home for the two nights. This is for the best interest for YOU. The last thing you'd want Charlie is to talk your way home against your surgeons wishes only to find yourself possibly heading back to the hospital as an emergency patient because 'it wasn't going to be easy to have a two night stay away' and this could then result in you being away for four or more days.
Sometimes we may not like what our surgeons plan for us, but they do give you a surgery plan to enable YOU to get the best from this surgery to enable YOU to get the good result you're hoping for Charlie, but I'm sure if you speak with your surgeon with no pressure and ask if you're well enough after day one of being in hospital to go home, would that be an option, if he says no, then it's no bother, you're all sorted at home and you just get more rest in hospital and if he says yes, you would have been prepared for two nights so that would just be a bonus. But do go with whatever is suggested for YOU hun.
If it's really not convenient for you 'now' to have a two day period away from home, maybe it would be best to postpone hun to a time when it would be more convenient for you and to organise more care at home and then you can relax and have the time needed for 'you' to get the best start for your result without worrying about home. Xx

Re: How long in hospital?
I have the care at home, hubby is taking two weeks off work afterwards to care for our children it's just more the logistics of being picked up etc with the kids! Weekdays one is at school so makes life much easier and I hate relying on others to look after my kids if that makes sense. Going to have to get used to it tho as it will be rest rest rest for me! If he wants me to stay in for two nights that's what I'll do, I definitely don't want to be going home earlier than is safer to do so. Was just wondering what others stays have been like! He said until my drains are ok and I'm ok I won't be going home which completely makes sense! Can't believe this time next week will be done

Re: How long in hospital?
Awwww it's all going to be OK. The main risk if the drains are still filling is a heamatoma and you really don't sant to get home and have to deal with one of those Charlie. And aqs good as your hubby is he won't want to be dealing with it either sweetheart.
I'm glad you've resigned yourself now to the 2 days as your surgeon suggested and if the drains stop filling after a day I'm sure he'll be more than happy to let you home. Xx
