What made you choose the surgeon you did?
Well, for those who have been here a while you'll know I've been stalking Mr McGeorge for a long time and longing for him to do my boobs for me.
I'd already met him once when my daughter went though wanting a BA and he was wonderful with her and gave her very good advise. Since then it's been my mission to get him for myself. It's been hard here watching woman after woman have him do their boobs, but I'm so, so, thrilled now to have him do mine. He gave me lots of time to go through what I wanted, gave me the consultation for free (normally costing £150) and even told me to come and see me as many times as I'd like prior to my op and if I still have questions on the day of the op, I'm to write them down, bring them with me and he'll go through things there again with me if needed! - roll on February. Xx
Looking forward to reading all about your surgeon and why you chose them. Xx

Re: What made you choose the surgeon you did?
I think for me it was a combination of a few considerations...the locality of clinic for post op visits, and from there, which surgeons worked for them, and then from there, which feedback was I most comfortable with, and ultimately, and the main decision factor, was how at ease I felt with them.
After meeting some, despite having my questions answered, and knowing I was ready to book, something was holding me back from committing. From the moment I met my surgeon, I just knew it was right! Just hope my instinct is right ;) x

I chose my surgeon solely on qualifications & him being BAAPS /BAPRAS registered along with being local to where I stay & working for NHS doing breast reconstruction. I found this site a few days before surgery & was so naive hadn't even considered having lots of consultations, everything turned out well with op but next time I'm going to do things how we recommend on here & have lots of consultations, have a few surgeons already in mind. Hey cookie, so glad you've found the guy for you and are looking forward to another surgery. Do you feel confident that he can do good work for you after everything you've been through?
Well, my surgeon choice kind of just fell into my lap. I was certain, after a consultation with transform some years ago, that I didn't want to go with one of the big companies. I know lots of ladies here have had great experiences with them and I don't want to upset anyone but that was just not the right choice for me .
I looked into different implant types and ddecided the polyurethane coated were the ones for me.
He was so kind and his staff were lovely, his aftercare package is amazing, which obviously makes me feel more at ease as I really cant afford a reop.
I had a couple of choices of private hospital to stay in, overnight stayincluded in the price. That me it easier for me as I have 3 children :)
Lots of things, really :)above all though, I trusted him.

Thank you Jen.Jen23 wrote:Hey cookie, so glad you've found the guy for you and are looking forward to another surgery. Do you feel confident that he can do good work for you after everything you've been through?
I cant say I'm looking forward to another surgery lol. But im certainly excited for the outcome. I'm desperate to see what they look like
Im as confident as I can be Jen, but after being let down time after time it has knocked my confidence in cosmetic surgery.
When I first came here I knew little to nothing of cosmetic surgery and I was determined to fully understand everything the surgeons were saying to me. My research then started going beyond just researching for me but about all the other complications, what they meant and how the surgeons might fix 'em. Honestly....I'm a boob geek! Transform gave me after taking from me a further £4,5000 the free re-ops for the scar revisions. I know my last surgeon there would have fought for free revision again for the CC and seroma and it was my husband that said enough...we don't want to have to go through this here anymore. He'd totally lost confidence in the surgeons there and took me to a private surgeon. A different one to Mr McGeorge. It was Mr Liew and the difference was outstanding. But I longed for MrMcGeorge to do my last BA.
So, I feel I've followed my own advise here now. I've seen enough surgeons to know what I like and what I don't like, so it was matter of fact that MrMcGeorge was going to do this next surgery. He sounded pretty confident that my boobs will look Like I want them to. But I was surprised I didn't need another uplift! The implants are smaller than I have now. They're 350CC and I have 410CC now but my boobs are tight, so he said it would be better so my skin can relax and I'll just have an incision in the Breast crease only.
I do trust in Mr McGeorges experience, but I'd be lying if I said I was fully confident. I'm not?
But I wouldn't feel any confidence at all with anybody else but him.

It must be difficult after what you've been through.
I fully believe we have our intuition and we should listen to it.
Sorry, I didn't word it well lol I meant the outcome, not the actual surgery. I imagine your nerves beforehand must be shot by now?
I really hope you get the outcome you have been striving for x x

Re: What made you choose the surgeon you did?
Thanks Jen. It's hard for any of us having revision. Although many times it's not the surgeons fault, you do still lose a lot of trust and it does make things very hard.
I've been here on this forum about 5 years now and I think I've seen all there isof the dark side of this business as well as the good and I suppose that's hardened me a lot because of what I know.
This time I don't think I could have done anymore than I have, so yeah...I'm very excited for the outcome

Re: What made you choose the surgeon you did?
After breast feeding 3 babies I guess it was vanity for me.
I researched the surgeons in the Glasgow area, I knew I wanted to go private, I was planning on seeing a few surgeons but when I met my surgeon I knew he was the one, he understood the look I wanted - a decent size but as natural looking as possible.
Nearly a year on I love my boobs I just wished I had done it sooner!

Re: What made you choose the surgeon you did?
I had 3 consultations with 3 different surgeons booked although I suppose I had almost made my mind up when I booked my consultation with Mr Alvi after speaking with his pa Karen. She was just so enthusiastic about him and so informed. Still I decided to see all 3 surgeons on the same day and I'm glad I did. I spent almost an hour and a half with Mr Alvi yet the 2 surgeons from Transform and Hospital Group rushed me through. Especially the one from the Hospital Group (can't even remember his name now!). I spent more time with his assistant trying on implants!! I had 3 consultations with Mr Alvi as he likes to see you at least twice and he was and still is brilliant. Even though I am only 4 1/2 weeks po I feel that I have made the right choice. He does breast reconstruction on the NHS as well as breast surgery and he was completely honest with me regarding what I could and couldn't achieve with implants. I even saw him last thursday even though I wasn't due to see him for 2 weeks as I was worried about pain I'd been having and he thoroughly examined me to make sure all was ok and said please ring anytime if you're worried. I also like the fact that he will continue to see me every year for the life of my implants to keep an eye out for cc as part of his aftercare. He is a genuinely lovely man who has changed my life :)

Re: What made you choose the surgeon you did?
My friend had used the surgeon I did and she had fabulous boobs, locality was also an issue for me as didn't want to be travelling for pre op etc as the other girls have said.
Another friend of mine used my surgeon two weeks after me too - he's been fab. Hearing other woman's stories I'm so lucky, it's all been very easy for me so far atleast!

I researched surgeons within a one hour radius then it came down to reputation/recommendations and cost...cost meaning I went for the most expensive!!

Re: What made you choose the surgeon you did?
I was extremely naïve and to do it again, would do it completely differently. At the time, I just wanted a consultation to get an idea of what could actually happen, I was no where near ready to book, just wanted some firm options instead of guesswork. I rang THG for a consult, and they gave me a surgeon.
A year later I was ready to go ahead with my op. Instead of at that point having more consults and shopping around, I just went back to him, because we'd clicked and me and hubs were happy with him. Didn't think to even just look elsewhere for different opinions on size, placement etc. I was VERY lucky that I have actually come out with boobs I love, and so far haven't had to use the aftercare.
HOWEVER next time, knowing what I know now, I would do a hella lot more research, look into qualifications, and likely go private. That's not to say he didn't do a great job, I still love my boobs, and the other girls out there with this surgeon also, its not a diss on him, I may still use him again if he's still practising when the time comes. But I would take my time and get the other opinions, so that I can be fully informed.
