Hi,

I'm wondering how you girls went about choosing the right surgeon/clinic? Did you goto lots of consultations? Were you prepared to (or did you) travel far to work out who exactly you chose or did you stick with a close proximity to home and select from there? You hear so much about a particular street in London but is there a lot of truth in it?

I can't have anything done just yet so have plenty of time to plan but wondered whether being close to home is something that is beneficial or whether it doesn't really matter.

Thanks.

I researched my company, mainly because i knew my surgeon worked local, that was a big factor for me, as i knew if any thing went wrong, he was near and the hospital i had ops at are close. obv went to consults with him, and felt comfortable x

Hi!

It is probably what feels right for you and your situation. I had consultations with the Hospital Group (Dr Sulamain), two consultants at Transform (Linda Fumara and Lee Martin), and at a private one Sthetix (Dr Alvi) mainly because my doctor recommended him.

I went for the consultant I felt most comfortable with, who had the highest qualifications and experience. Plus proximity to home was important to me as I am a single mum with three kids. Maybe it doesn't matter, but that's how I did it.

Loads of research on the internet and looking on forums such as this one also helped me in my decision.

Good luck

I had a few consulations with different clincs and different surgeons. It took me a while but eventually I chose to have my BA with mr singh through mya. I also reserched each surgeon I saw and went with my PS in the end cos he understood what I wanted and I felt happy with him. x

i think my first priority was finding a surgeon who I liked, and who I felt understood exactly what I wanted. Secondly was the level of aftercare, as I didn't want to be left with nowhere to go if I suffered complications, and then it was location, which sort of falls into aftercare because if it's really far away then it makes it a lot more difficult on you if you do suffer complications, and it also makes the journey home a little more uncomfortable. But I was willing to risk that if I needed to travel to get the surgeon I wanted.

I found Mybreast, and I was really happy with their aftercare policy, the fact that you meet with your actual surgeon from the first consultation, and that the consultation only costs £25 which is taken off of your surgery price if you go with them, and then you get a second consultation with your surgeon free as well.
As it happened, they had a surgeon who works in my own city, and he was the first and only consultation I had, because I was really happy with him!!!

I think if you can draw up a list of priorities and work from there, then you'll know where you are (and are not) willing to compromise.

Ps. I'm actually not a Mybreast sales person lol!!

I had a consultation with Mr Kuna at Transform because I had heard good things about Transform. I had planned to have a consultation with a surgeon at Spire but when I met Mr Kuna I was very comfortable and happy with him. I then researched him a little and decided to book. The most important to me was being happy with the surgeon and knowing there was aftercare, although there are companies who offer longer aftercare than Transform.

My friend has recently had hers with transform and it was really close so i went for consultation there and i loved my surgeon so much i didnt bother going anywhere else :) prob shouldve done a bit more looking around but i had total confidence in him and that was the most important thing to me at the time, the thought that he was doing what was right for ME as an individual

i only wanted to go with mybreast. Once id read about them they were the only ones i was interested in.
I called them and spoke to a PC and talked to her about what i needed and what my breasts were like at the moment, and she recommended a surgeon who was most experienced and specialised in that area, and I booked a consulation with him. Both me and my partner thought he was great and felt very comfortable with him, so i booked straight after.

Hun,

I went to all the most known ones,
My breat, harley medical then Tranform!
I felt most comfortable with Transform then decided to meet the surgeons there met a few then met Dr Khan whom is known for being rude etc but he wasn't rude to me!
And he will give me the "glamour" look I want. So I chose him!

Just make sure you do your reserach on the companies before hand so you know what to exoect when u go to meet them. The biggest factor with me was aftercare..then the look I wanted then the price!
But once I'd met transform it all just felt right xxxx

Good luck hun... My advice to you would be just. Get a few opinions as u do get told different things by different companies. Xxxxg

I initially looked at private surgeons, but was quite shocked that you didn't get very good aftercare packages. I then looked at transform purly because it's so well advertsied, then thank goodness I found this forum. Reading peoples posts on here made me realise I needed to do much more research. I also had consults with HMG and lastly MyBreast. I chose MyBreast because I knew I found the surgeon I felt most at ease with, and he had all the right qualifications. Luckily the aftercare is also very good. xx

Thank you so much for your advice. Proximity to home is very important to me, as is aftercare then of course the surgeon and results. Noticed a couple offered lifetime aftercare. I'll definitely be in touch with a few of the clinics when I come to making it official.

I've had a nosey and there are two mybreast, one transform, MYA and a harley medical group all less than an hour away located in and around leeds.

That's good news for you hun, as it means you have a good pick of surgeons that aren't too far away. I would advise you going to see as many of them as you can afford in order to make up your mind.

Just make sure you go armed with all the questions and info that you can, so that they know exactly what sort of a result you're after, and you can then judge which one gets you best!!

Good luck!

The one thing I wanted was a surgeon who would understand what I wanted and use his professional expertise and knowledge to help me achieve the results I was paying for. I had 2 consultations at Harley Medical, one at Transform and one at The Hospital Group. I saw 2 surgeons and chose the one who was the most personable and would help me best. I live pretty centrally to all 3 of these clinics so it will be good for me for aftercare, although I am driving 120 miles for the actual surgery
