Sun beds before BA
Hi all, I'm going on the sunbed before my BA to make me feel a bit better. I feel really pastey. If anything it will make me feel better after my op. I'm aware that if you use them after a BA then you need to fully cover up scars and boobies because the scar pigment colour will go a funny colour and the stretched skin is prone to burning. If you are going to use the sunbed after a BA, what's the best thing to use to cover boobies?

Re: Sun beds before BA
Haven't used sun beds, hopefully some one who has will be along with advice from experience.
Would imagine a high factor sun cream on boobs after BA would suffice, keeping scars completely covered with a sticky dressing/ plaster . Either that or keeping boobs & scars completely covered with a crop top or something & just tan the rest of body.
You could maybe use fake tan as an alternative there's some good one out there or even the moisturisers with gradual tanning built in to give you a bit of colour post op, keeping clear of incisions though XXX

I'm desperate to know too Anne! I have a Sunbed every week, but my nurse (who is anti Sunbed in general) is scaring me lol! She said the rays will go through any clothing?
My friend who owns a tanning shop said this is nonsense, she said just cover the boobs and scars and have a bed.
Help ladies ...xx

I think maybe a towel wrapped round your boobies would do the trick ? Hope so . Xx

UV rays don't behave like normal light rays, they penetrate material, even two layers thick. The easiest and best thing to do during your healing period is just to stay clear. If you absolutely have to tan, cant you switch to a spray for the interim once you have the all clear on the scars? Its much less harmful for you in the long run, and you wont have to worry about any complications/aesthetic upsets it will cause.
