Revision needed after a rupture. What to expect?
Hey ladies, I'm a newbie to the site & just want to start by saying this site is ace!! I'v been reading several post & its brilliant that your able to seek advice from individuals who have been in the same situation as your in, and you ladies are really supportive so big thumbs up from me
Anyway.... I had my initial implants only two and a half years ago, (MHP 340CC partials) and have recently found out that my leftie has ruptured Haven't got a clue how this has happened as iv not had any direct trauma. To cut a long story short I now need to have a revision, rather than having just the one done im having both done although my right one is fine. I just couldn't bear having one thats new and one thats 2 and a half years old & thinking the possibility of the right one also rupturing. So basically I just want to know what to expect? I presume it will be like the initial surgery, although i will probably need a capsulectomy on my leftie? Sorry for rambling but would really appreciate someone to shed some light on the situation. Thanks x

A rupture can happen for any reason, it doesn't have to be a direct trauma. It's what we call a silent rupture. It's good you've caught it though. There’ll be someone along soon who's more I'm the know to help out. Do you have the revision booked? The sooner the better.

Re: Revision needed after a rupture. What to expect?
PPPPFTTTTT.... It's a long story, I had my wisdom teeth extracted on the 22 Aug, didnt have any problems, pain or swelling before this. I woke up with pain in my armpit & over the course of three days the pain spread to around my left breast & my ribs. I went to the doctors & bloods were taken & had to go to A&E. I had an x-ray, the doc said it could be a pulled muscle but bcos of the x-ray & raised blood levels they thought that I had a blood clot on my lung so was treated for that for 5 days until a CT scan was arranged (at this point I also had a nasty infection were my teeth had removed & developed "dry socket). So finally had my CT scan that confirmed there was no longer a blood clot (if there was one there is the first place?) BUT my left implant had ruptured!!! I was in total shock, like i said no pain or anything at all before that. Whats the chances of a silent rupture at just two and a half years with no direct trauma??? So now im having a revision on the 5th Oct, thats the earliest day :( I'm in alot of pain with this stupid boobie & very uncomfortable. I just want the nightmare to be over. Thanks for the quick reply xx

Maybe he was kneeling on your chest having a good yank!! There are links with oral surgery and complications, infections getting into the bloodstream, that might have attributed...who knows, it might just be one of those things. 5th isn't too far off, sorry to hear you're in so much pain. It'll be all fixed soon.

Re: Revision needed after a rupture. What to expect?
I'v tried to do some research to see if oral infection is linked which i believe the infection can "seed" from the mouth and rest near in the pocket of the implant That would explain the swelling, but the pain? God knows... iv arranged another appointment to meet Mr. Mahadev wednesday, the first time i met him i forgot to ask him loads of questions, think any of you ladies can suggest what I should be asking? The hospital are investigating what has happened although they said its highly unlikely the extraction is linked, as they didnt use a drill or didnt need to pull, the consultant used a mallet and chisel BARF!! I just want this sorted so im in no pain & can return back to work. Im really dreading the first couple of days & the sleeping upright, that was the worst bit for me. Thanks for your quick replies

I watched my hubs have an extraction that way! I think it's like, if there is a bleed or a hole, it's linked to a bloodstream that can quickly get infected, but it sounds like it's not anything to do with it to be honest.
I would sit and write down every little thing you want know know, that way it's all listed and you won't forget. Also, you don't have to sleep upright, just shoulders above heart to help drain the swelling.

Ah well thats a relief, i was planning to sleep on the recliner chair. Do you know if the recovery time is longer & is it more painful to have a revision.I know what to expect to a certain extent but in terms of recovery & pain after a revision im baffled lol x

I can't help with that one I'm afraid, plus it'll be different for each girl. Someone should be along soon to help out.
