Survey on shower
hi ladies!
Sorry - a bit paranoid!
I am 13 days post op for a mastopexy.
I have just had my first shower yesterday (HEAVEN IT WAS!!!) with the tapes on and need to change the tape tomorrow.
Do you shower with or without the tapes?
I have dried them with the cool hairdryer but not sure what is best. The nurse said it is good to wet the incisions as all the dead cells and old blood can go.
As you know I am terrified of opening the wounds so need reassurance really
Thanks for your help

Re: Survey on shower
Best thing to do - call your clinic and ask them. Everyone will have been given different instructions. For me (just ba) I was allowed to shower from wk2, leave dressings on in the showering, then change daily afterwards. For other women it'll be different, especially with an uplift. Calling the clinic for firm advise will put your mind at ease.

Re: Survey on shower
Would definitely call and check on your specific aftercare as it varies so much.
I wasn't allowed to shower with the dressings on but once they were off and only the tapes left then I could but had to dry using the old hair dryer technique!

Re: Survey on shower
Thank you!
I contacted the nurse who said I can shower with the tapes on. When it is time to change it (every 3 / 4 days) it is easier to take them off after the shower.
Happy again :)

Re: Survey on shower
When you remove the tapes boobstobe, yes, do it in the shower. It's so much easier to remove the tapes when the tapes are wet.
Another little bit of advice for you is: Don't rub your wounds at all. When you're in the shower just let the soapy water run over them, it's all they need to keep them clean. Then, after showering, just dab the wounds dry with your towel. Then with a hair dryer on a cool setting, gently blow the wounds until they are bone dry. Only then replace your tapes. The dryer they are....the less risk of infection
