Re: am i being silly?
I don't think you're being silly, I think you're nervous and feel like maybe you're pushing yourself to be 100% too quickly post op after reading our experiences. You need to sit down and have a look at things realistically. I know it seems like woo, holiday with boobs, but you wont be able to have them out in the sun, you scars will need to be doubly covered, you're probably still going to be very sore, and the boobs themselves will likely still be very high and tight and 'fake' looking and may not sit in a bikini properly.
I think you need to look at how badly you want this BA, and whether you can live with postponing it a couple months if possible.
Im not trying to put the fear in you, Im just being realistic in how far recovered you'll be when you go away.

Sorry you are feeling down about it. But, I think Charlii has summed it up perfectly above - very wise words. If you are counting down with panic to your holiday it could jeopardise your recovery as you will stress yourself out and it could take much longer to feel better. Also, you want to enjoy your BA and not be worrying about other pressures.

Hi Charlii,
Yeah your exactly right.. i think i may postpone till end of August. I just feel like when i have my BA ill have my holiday hanging over my head, worrying about getting things sorted for that.. when really i should be still in recovery mode and enjoying my time watching my boobs do all there crazy stuff they do in the healing process haha!!

Yeah shes summed up to a T , its exactly what i have been thinking Mrs Cheese... you have also head the nail on the head... i may not feel 100% in myself 8 weeks after so therefore ill not feel 100% confident to fly and go on holiday.. which will ruin my holiday really.
Ive emailed my surgeon with my worries and thoughts of postponing.. she what his opinion is.

Re: am i being silly?
I think Charlii has this wrapped Amb... You KNOW before even going on your holiday that it 'may' not be one of the best holidays you'll have due to still being in recovery (even after getting a surgeons all clear generally around 4-12 weeks, this is ONLY the all clear to start treating your boobs as normal, this does not mean the end of your recovery which will continue over the coming year).
You've been around the forum Amb, long enough to be aware of the recovery process and also to know that you can't ever put time limits on anything. YOUR boobs will heal in their own way and in their own good time.
Be sure when you take out your holiday insurance declare you've had breast surgery (or will have had) . It may add to the cost, but in the event of you not being up to the holiday due to possible complications, at then you'll be covered and won't lose any money from your holiday.... Same goes for if you have. Any difficulties on holiday which may require medical attention. If its declared...its covered
Its just for your own peace of mind Amb to get yourself covered. That's not to say anything WILL happen, its impossible for us to say either way. But I do think if you get yourself covered on your holiday insurance you'll relax more and feel better within yourself knowing you have all eventualities covered.
You then don't have to spend time worrying about 'what ifs' Amb, and can take each day as it comes and enjoy your holiday. Xx

Re: am i being silly?
I think im going to postpone till August Cookie, i think 2 month is cutting edge , if i was 3 month maybe id feel a bit better but cant put forward as i still need to loose weight... Maybey me postponing to august will be better all along.. more time to get my body in shape, more time putting money away for my BA... I COULD be perfectly fine going on holiday after 8 weeks but tbh i dont wanna risk stressing out over it.

Re: am i being silly?
aw bless you its so hard isnt when we are lookimg forward to and thats your BA and the holiday
I was gutted when I had to postpone my reop but it got done in the end, just think if you wait til august you can cover up more if you are in sports bra for upto 12 weeks and you might get a compression band, so it gives you a great time to recover in to time for next years holiday
I am a worrier as I know it can go wrong but its all fixable remember xx

2weeks Is cutting it fine Hun, and ultimately it's down to you and what you feel is best.
What's easier to postpone the ba or holiday? At least pre ba you havnt got to worry about any healing and can enjoy it.
And the ba will be there for when you come back and something to look foward to x

Re: am i being silly?
I think you're being very sensible in postponing your holiday, that way you will be able to go away and enjoy your holiday without having to worry about your boobs and as you say it will give you more time to save for your BA, lose the wee bit weight etc that you want to do.
there's plenty of more opportunities for holidays away with your new boobs when you do get them done & at the rate this year seems to flying in your new op date will be here before you know it. XXX

I totally agree with Mirren lovely. You're distressing over weight and a holiday when really you should be enjoying this time and looking forward to the weeks ahead, but instead you have far too much on your mind and I do agree with you... For the short postponement it gives you time to go away, have a ball, come home, focus on your weight and your up and coming BA.
I absolutely believe in fate Amb, and I think its screaming out to you to give yourself a little more time. Each if our journeys is unique to us all, but we all reach the same destination babe and you WILL have your boobs. You're not at all cancelling, just being sensible. Looking at the big picture rather than the tiny bubble of excitement that spurs many on with no thought at all and its when your head is ruled by that small bubble that things can go wrong hun.
I'm actually feeling happy for you right now because I believe too that you'll be happier for the short wait ahead. Xx
Re: am i being silly?
Hi babes.. I completely understand how you feel and it's such a nerve wracking experience because you don't know what to expect., I had my first BA 12 weeks ago and have been out to Singapore on 2 14 hour flights I was absolutely fine and I've had problems with my BA with double bubble.. I think it's natural to worry about a lot of things and flying is one of them.. Please enjoy your experience honey and try not to worry too much.. Think of the reasons why you want this done and your holiday will make u feel amazing.. Show off your gorgeous new look in a bikini and get tanned and relaxed at the same time xx if you decide you want to postpone then maybe that's for the best too as you need to be 100% sure in your decision xx good luck whatever you decide x

Re: am i being silly?
yeah like wonderwoman ive been away with the complications, been to salou at around 5 month tunisia at 7 month and barcelona at 10 month
At 8 weeks theres no stopping you unless theres a major compliation but like the other have said boobs need to be well away, and things like lifting the case etc xx

Thanks girls .... This is what my surgeon said to me via email... I don't know what to do man!!! Haha

Rest assured 8 weeks is more than enough time to recover. The wounds will have healed and be waterproof by 10 days. After that time you can shower/have a bath to your heart's content!
You will know whether you are a 'slow' healer or not, from scratches and injuries you might have had in the past. Persoanaaly I have nver seen this phenomenon of 'slow' healing other than in patients who are immuno-compromised ie on cancer treatement or who have had kidney or heart transplants and are on siginficant rejection medication. We operate on Insulin delependand Diabetics regualarly and they dont show 'slow' helaing.
The human body is programmed to heal along a set pathway such that the wounds have knitted together by 7 days approximately, we give it an extra few days for security - hence the 10 days recoomendation before you can get them wet.
Swimming won't be an issue at 8 weeks - as long as you can swim now! ;-)
Yes - you should avoid direct sunlight on the scars only (the breast themselves can of course be tanned as normal if you wish in a bikini!) Best thing is if you want to go topless, is to put a flesh coloured strip on the scar only or apply waterproof SPF50 to the scar. All that would happen is that the scar might turn red for a few weeks if you didnt do this.
At 8 weeks the breast will have started to soften, but will still look fabulous!
Don't worry!!
Best wishes
Amber

Re: am i being silly?
I burnt silly with factor 50 on at 5 month, the skin stretches so becomes thinner and easier to burn, I don't normally burn though
No one knows how quick they will heal and drop etc or have complications. I know I always sound Mrs doom and gloom but I've been there, been on holidays and had complications
However u might be completely fine, but ur still at high risk of burning etc. Ur wounds might not have healed up completely, alot of us are told no swimming til 12 weeks as precaution and pools abroad are not as clean.as here
All u can do is listen to ur surgeon I suppose, xx

Re: am i being silly?
Your surgeons message is very positive, I'll just disagree with him though about tanning your boobs, as tinkerbelle says they'll burn VERY easily as they've been stretched. Also what he says about if you don't cover your scars all that will happen is they'll go red for a few weeks, everything I've read indicates that over exposing your scars to the sun can cause permanent pigmentation, so I wouldn't be too relaxed about that either.
You'll probably be fine to go away, maybe just think about getting a couple of cropped vest tops for the beach to cover up a bit more? xx

Re: am i being silly?
I personally think you will be ok but like you I would be a little bit worried about it I am going on holiday on the 24th June and have literally just had my BA yay! Lol but I do have a lil more time to heal than you will. If it is worrying you babe I would postpone it's not worth the stress what's a few months when you have waited a long while anyway. I think you should relax and enjoy your holiday to full extent get a lovely tan then add the boobies too but if you choose to go ahead I do think you would be ok xx
