Have I been very silly.....
Hi Ladies.
I have an allergy to plasters - especially the heavy duty bandages and mepore dressings - my surgeon just used steril strips and guaze with a clear sticky dressing.
After 10 days it has really started to irritate and peel back a little at the edges from wearing my sports bra.......today I decided it would be a good idea to take the sticky dressing off and just have the steril strips on until I get them removed on tuesday eve. The stitches are entangled into the guaze and I couldnt pull them off without fear of bleeding so I have had to cut the dressing down as close as possible - it now obviously keeps catching on things!!
What a WALLY! Why cant I just leave things alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Has anyone else tampered/removed dressing before their follow-up?
Will I get a ticking off on tuesday do you think?
How do they remove the dressings anyway?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks
CeeJay

Mine came away at one edge and I peeled it back a wee bitty more because I was curious about stitches - was dissapointed to find steri-strip underneath tho, so fail! lol I just stuck it back down and my sports bra kept it in place until I seen nurse.

Babe, best thing to do until you see PS on tuesday is to get some cheap sanitary pads with wings(if you arent allergic) and stick them to your bra, sortof half folded so theres a bit stuck to the outside too.. get me? When i had my dressings totally off my bra irritated me like mental and this was the only thing that helped. It'll hopefully stop whats left of your dressings catching as there'll be something between them and bra. Hope this makes sense and helps xx

Re: Have I been very silly.....
put more steri strips on to cover the gauze, can get them at most chemists or supermarkets.i actually took my steri strips off as they were puckering my skin around 10 days so much relief.i just put fresh ones on again.NOT recommending taking em off though
