With any excerise it's usually 6 weeks , your body needs to be healing not exerting itself on doing squats and that Hun.
In any excerise you feel it in your chest also.
Best to take it as it comes and see how you feel. You may feel ok at 6 weeks to do some squats and sit ups but then again you may not. X
Anything done against your surgeons advise will void your aftercare and not only that why take the risk of something going wrong or putting your healing back by excerising before you're told x

Mrsball has said it all really. Your surgeon will advise, but even though you're allowed, doesn't mean you can. I couldn't get back into my running until at least 12wk.

I totally agree with mrsball and charlii!
My surgeon gave me the all clear to go back to running, swimming, upper body exercises etc.. at 6 weeks. However, there was no way I felt I could resume these exercises at 6 weeks.. I still felt extremely fragile and still don't do any of those now at 3 months post-op. I tried running a couple of weeks ago but my boobs really ached after it so I just thought to myself that it isn't worth it and it's better to wait until I'm 100% ready.
I keep fit by going on extremely long powerwalks every day/or every other day.. I usually cover anything from 7-10 miles every day and it certainly keeps me fit and toned.
Don't worry about gaining weight after you op as you might gain 1 or 2 pounds as a result of reducing your exercise routine but that weight will definitely all drop off when you get moving again :) You can do lots of exercises that don't involve upper body e. g going on a recumbent bike or walking or hill climbing on a treadmill :)
Take care, lovely!! xxxx

I'm an exercise addict and do worry about this too but I am just gonna have to chill and really take it easy, I think you/ I / everyone will have to feel totally back to normal before resuming our usual exercise, gonna be so hard for me and I know I will loose definition but aim to walk, use my treadmill and eat super clean and healthy for as long as it takes after ba, it's just not worth the risk! I kick box and do hiit traing there's no way I can do that for ages :( look at it as a well earned break ha x

Yes you're very right, honey! When you think about it it's really not worth jeopardising your healing or even causing any harm to your boobs for the sake of exercising. Using your treadmill and going for long walks will definitely keep you toned. I was a complete gym freak pre-op (sometimes I would spend 3 hours there hahaha.. and I used to lift heavy weights as well) but since my op 3 months ago I have completely adjusted my routine and switched to longer, less intense exercise rather than short high intense bouts of exercise. It's all about balance.. so if you don't eat too many fatty foods then you should be fine :)
I actually lost weight after my op because I think it really took it out of me and I think I used a lot of energy just healing and regenerating myself back to normal :)
Yes, if you think of it as a well earned break then you should enjoy it!! :D Your BA is a perfect excuse to be lazy so just embrace the laziness haha! xxxxx

Thanks girls, I certainly won't over exert myself, just feeling a little untoned at the moment and thinking hmm I'm going to have these perfect boobs and a horrible body to go with it haha !! For everyone who had their BA done a while back did you find you could resume exercise to the same level as before ? Gemma Atkinson certainly seems to!! Athough she does wear 2 x supportive sports bras xx

Haha does she? I've thought about wearing two sports bras but i'd feel like i was squashing my boobs and maybe causing restricted circulation xxxx

Re: How long until I can do sit ups / squats again
Hey,
With exercise my surgeon said two weeks for lower body and four weeks for chest/abs then 6 weeks for swimming. Normally it is 6 weeks, I started back after 4 weeks with PT (trainer knew about boobs!! Girlie trainer so took it easy and if it hurt we would do something different).
I only wear the one sports bra (shockabsorber max crop top) and that seems to stop them moving).

Re: How long until I can do sit ups / squats again
alot more surgeons are waiting til he 12 weeks for alot of things now, well Ive seen this coming more popular the 18 months ive been here
I think that its so important to take it easy it 12 weeks its not a long time in the journey of getting your BA and it really can void your aftercare if you dont listen to your surgeon and more importantly your own body, I know I bang on and on about aftercare but girls you just never know if its going to be you and when you will need to use the aftercare that you paid for im unlucky to have had to use mine already and looking like another reop again
so you can tone up after your healthy and your body is ready to handle it xx
