One week to go.....I'm so nervous!
Hello ladies
Well it's now one week until my BA, paid my bill which has made it seem even more real. I was feeling really excited but now I'm more worried and scared. I think this is more to do with having a GA as I've never had one before and the fact that I'll be away from my husband a little boy for a night.
I'm nervous at what they are going to look and feel like! Eek can anyone offer some words of advice??
Thank you

Hey Amy
I know what you mean...after so long of planning, thinking and imagining having boobs/ getting it done it does seem so surreal when you finally have a date and have paid. I think just don't focus on the GA/ op etc but on how amazing you are going to feel when you look down and have boobies! That's what I'm concentrating on anyway! x

Re: One week to go.....I'm so nervous!
I am starting to feel the same and mine is three weeks today. I am really looking forward to it but I'm also nervous and scared. I've had my mind occupied for the last few days as my sister has just had a baby and I was her birthing partner - I've been recovering from that experience lol. This also didn't really help my nerves, as I have developed a bit of a hospital phobia I think!!
I think you just need to keep in mind why you are doing this, and also remember that GA is super, super safe these days.
I'm sure you will be happy with the end result
Xx

Re: One week to go.....I'm so nervous!
Hiya, babe!! First of all Congratulations for paying the bill! You're one step closer to having gorgeous boobies!!
My words of advice are to get EXCITED!! Try not to get too nervous about the whole GA and op.. Obviously it's natural to be worried but you have to remember that you won't know anything about it until it's done haha. Before you know it you'll be looking down at your chest and admiring your gorgeous new set of additons!!
It'll be hard being away from your husband and son but to be honest, babe, the GA will absolutely knock you out for the rest of the day so you'll be asleep for most of the time away from them! :)
Trust me, you will LOVE your op day and you will LOVE your new boobs!
The time has come to get excited, honey!!
Wahoooooooooo xxxxxxx

Re: One week to go.....I'm so nervous!
Good luck to all of you having your BA soon.
I didn't have time to get too excited the week leading up to BA - was rushing around like a mad women and I was actually looking forward to the GA (sleeping) lol.
GA is nothing to be scared about. If you are worried about being sick afterwards tell the anaesthetist doctor- and they will give you anti sickness drugs. You come out and feel "nicely drunk and fuzzy" and if you have any pain- they will give you painkillers to ease it.
You are in good hands girls - these doctors do it every day and GA complications are extremely rare. This was my 5th GA and the longest I have been under was over 4 hours xx

Re: One week to go.....I'm so nervous!
My advice is : Be strong, be positive.... you are doing this for YOU.... you want to do this so don't worry at all.
The worry is just natural: it comes from the "unknown"..... the not having had a GA etc.
I have had 2 GA, I must say for me that was not at all in any way the worst part of BA, you literally doze off and wake feeling a little groggy and hazey but it is all good and they really look after you during and after.
Enjoy this exciting time, I know now looking back I did weirdly enjoy it... being looked after, the build up was exciting, the nurses were great, my hubby was amazing...and my little boys FAB looking after mummy too....

Re: One week to go.....I'm so nervous!
I've just realised what I wrote earlier isn't all showing!!
Emilyh that would be great to stay in touch and compare stories, it's nice knowing someone else going through it the same time as me. I'm being admitted at 8am. What time are you going in??
Thank you all again for your positive words. I think
I'm worried about being judged by other people for having a BA specially in the job I do. I know I shouldn't care cause I wanted this for so long.

Re: One week to go.....I'm so nervous!
You have to have a "stuff what others think" approach, as all that matters is YOU. It is how it will make you feel.... people will ALWAYS judge it's in our nature but as long as you know the whys....reasons.....how you will feel..... you don't need to justify it or worry about what anybody thinks at all.
Some girls will spend more time thinking people are looking at them, gossiping about them and being paranoid..... that they wont enjoy having new boobs.... so stuff other people hun, enjoy your new boobs for YOU!

Re: One week to go.....I'm so nervous!
Good luck hun! I remember how nervous I was the week leading up to my op, was paranoid about coming down with a cold, double checking i'd sorted everything, etc!
The ladies here have given you some excellent advice!
On more practical matters, make sure before you go you get the house sorted! Do a thorough clean, change the bed sheets, and make sure everything you are going to need to reach is at waist height. You won't be able to reach up for anything in cupboards!
Also, get your v-pillow sorted to make sleeping easier. I didn't get mine until about a week post op and I felt it! Very much wish I'd got mine in advance.
I was worried about people noticing too but no one has, or they are too polite to say, lol. But seriously, you'll be fairly strapped up for the first few weeks in your sports bra and after that, just say you've got a new wonder bra! They will never know And for me, I am much happier and more confident in myself now that I have had my op.
xx
