Plasters over steri strips!
Hi guys, I had my op on Friday 14th all great except the plasters over my steri strips are causing a huge rash on my skin and itching so much, my PS is away till next week do u think it's ok just to take the plasters off and leave the steri strips as I don't think I can cope with the itching much more.... Have no pain in boobs though! Xx

Didn't want to read and run! Unfortunately I have no advice. I know your PS is away but is there no way you could get in touch with your surgeon direct, email? If not ring up the clinic and just explain your problem, I'm sure they will have someone else who can offer you some advice. Xx

Re: Plasters over steri strips!
Are you normally allergic to plasters/sticky? Don't touch them without talking to someone. Not necessarily your surgeon, but a clinic nurse will do. They'll be able to advise. You're not even a week old yet, so the plasters are there to prevent any nasties getting into the steri strips so they don't get infected. If you cant get hold of the clinic nurse, your local GP should be able to advise.
Have you tried taking an antihistamine? And icing the tops of your boobs? Both these things can help to ease the itching. Lots of girls take antihistamines post op, theyre fine to mix with the anti-b's and painkillers. You want some Loratidine or Cetirizine.

Piriton is just the brand name that means they can charge twice as much! Its the same ingredients essentially.

Re: Plasters over steri strips!
I agree with the other girls, babe! Definitely don't take your plaaters off without being advised to by your nurse or surgeon. They're there for a reason and even though it may be painful you really need to ensure your boobs and incisions are well protectedd! :)
I'm sorry I can't offer any magical advice that'll make the itchiness go, babe :(
Take care and a massive good luck to you xxxxx
