Very confused and sad
Oh my god so confused had my third consultation yesterday and I was hoping to be more sure n booking. This was with a BAAPs surgeon the previous two were from transform. I mentioned I'd seem other surgeons. When he looked at my boobs he asked if the other surgeons had refused. This worried me firstly. He said there would be difficulties as he would have to do extra stitches to make me a crease as I'm so flat chested I don't have one. He also said that as my chest sticks out in the middle then slopes down I wouldn't get normal results and they wouldn't face forward. He said partial unders and using anatomical implants. The last surgeon said completely under and rounds, mentioned creating a crease but didn't present it as a difficulty. I felt like crying in the consultation. I feel like I look like I've had a mastectomy I worry about it all the time and was so excited at the thought of looking normal.
He did assure me that it would look a lot better though but I'm just so confused! I struggled to get an answer I understood as to why he said partials rather than fully under. He said something about fully under being for women requiring reconstructive surgery and that it requires moving muscles. This confused me as the other surgeon said he would put the implant fully under the muscle. He also reassured me that it was a challenge for him and not straightforward surgery and not something for me to worry about
I have a job interview on Friday which I've been prepping for all week so trying not to think about it fully until Saturday then it doesn't get me too down

Oh hun. It can be devastating when you hear something like that. But the BAAPS surgeons advise is probably the one you want to listen to the most, as hes in it for being a dr, not the cash. Hes not saying its impossible...just tricksy. If you really are that flat, maybe try looking up some BAAPS surgeons that specialise in trans-gender BA's? They might be more skilled and be able to give you more answers as to hows and whys.
I'd keep going with the BAAPS surgeons if I were you. They are far more skilled and specialised in their field than a general surgeon, so if it is going to be a challenge, you really want the best doing it. Also, theres expanding implants that you would have topped up every couple months to help stretch things out, then you have them replaced with permanent ones after. Theres def one girl on here with them. Might be something worth bringing up with a surgeon, see what they say?
Best of luck with the interview :)

Aw LoLo, please don't be sad
I understand it must be gutting to hear that, but trust me it will all work out ok in the end. I agree with Charli, trust the opinion of the BAAPs Surgeon - he would only say this if he had your best interests at heart. You chest shape will impact the end look, and many girls are upset that they aren't told that upfront. But don't be disheartened, as be addressing this you will end up with the best possible result.
Although BAAPs surgeons are at the top of their game they all have different areas of specialism. From what you've described you need a specialist surgeon, so please stick with getting opinions from only the most skilled surgeons - and certainly arrange an appointment with a different BAAPs Surgeon to get another opinion. Have a look on the BAAPs register for reconstructive plastic surgeons, they are likely to have the skills you require.
My heart goes out to you. I too felt abnormal and only realised through my research and seeing other womens photo's that i was much flatter than the average small busted woman. I had a faint breast crease (from breast feeding) but absolutely no breast tissue! I went with a BAAPs Surgeon and am thrilled with my result.
Good luck with your job interview and future consultations xxx

Re: Very confused and sad
Babe, from what you've told us your latest consultation has been awful! Poor you! I would like to give you a massive virtual hug, honey!!!
Firstly, I would suggest erasing your last consultation from your mind. That surgeon sounds like such an arrogant snob who has no concern for your emotional wellbeing whatsoever! How dare he upset you in a way that made you feel abnormal!
I'm pretty sure that a lot of girls have no crease at all in their chest ---Hence the reason they're going for a boob job! He had no right to say you having a boob job would create difficulties. He's a surgeon and should accept all types of breasts and accommodate each individual appropriately!
The former two surgeons you saw didn't say they'd refuse to operate on you.. Or make you feel unwelcome and abnormal. I would definitely go for more consultations and get lots more opinions, babe! Just erase that surgeon from your mind and try not to be disheartened by his harsh words to you. He had no right to make you upset and this has made me pretty angry to be honest.
Take his opinion with a pinch of salt, remember why you want this surgery and try and book future consultations. You have to remember that thousands and thousands of girls will have as little breast tissue as you. I, myself, was an AA but my surgeon accommodated me and gave me full unders because he said I had no breast tissue whatsoever. He didn't at any time make me feel like an alien or upset me because of this.
A MASSIVE GOOD LUCK TO YOU FOR YOUR JOB INTERVIEW!! Please try not to think about this bad experience and focus fully on your job interview. just tell yourself that you're going to continue searching for your IDEAL surgeon who will transform your chest into your dream set of boobies!! Your magical day will come when you can look down at your chest and feel proud and exhilarated! I promise you that your ideal plastic surgeon is out there.. you just need to keep looking!! :):)
Once again, a massive good luck for Friday and good luck for all your future consultations and eventually your big op date!!!
Take care, babe xxxxxxxxxx

Aw bless you
I have to agree with charlii I'd be more inclined to take the BAAPs surgeons advice. Why don't u go back an see him again and go through what he's discussed or see another BAAPs surgeon
Don't be down about it though xx

Re: Very confused and sad
aw hun i'm sorry you feel so down but just take it as a tiny bump in the road, you'll get there in the end.
i do agree with charlii, but just wanted to add that when the transform surgeons said 'unders', they probably meant what is actually called partials or dual plane as 'unders' (as opposed to overs) is just a term that is commonly used.
however as your surgeon rightly pointed out, FULL unders are hardly ever used in boob jobs and more in reconstructive surgery.
even though you might be hurt by what you were told at your last consultation, i think its a good thing that you heard this assessment about your body and that you're aware of it.
my advice would be to keep going to consultations with different surgeons, because when you find 'the one', you will just know xxx

Re: Very confused and sad
I mis-read the bit where you said he was a BAAPS surgeon.. That kind of changes my thoughts on the matter. I still strongly feel that he shouldn't have upset you and should have been more sensitive as to how he told you his thoughts though!! My advice is to go for more consultations with more BAAPS surgeons as they are highly reputable and you can get second and third opinions from surgeons just as qualified as your last one :)

Re: Very confused and sad
Hiya ,
Sorry to hear you were upset with your latest consultation.
I think once you are over the shock of being told having your BA isn't as straight forward as you first imagined you will appreciate the surgeons honesty in giving his full opinion and explaining to you the reasons behind it so you know what is involved and know what to expect.
You can take it from there and go back for another consultation with this surgeon just to clarify in your mind what the op entails and get answers to your questions(as sometimes when we hear something that we weren't expecting everything else said after that is just a blurr and you don't take it in or forget things you wish you had asked at the time) and/or you could have consultations elsewhere.
In going elsewhere you are going to be getting other opinions on your options to help you decide, I would stick to seeing BAAPS/BAPRAS for their expertise in performing complex surgeries to get the best possible results for you.
Charli mentioned the expandable implants, it was Pinkprincess who had these and her surgeon was Ivan Foo he is a consultant in the NHS but also works from Spire Elland Hospital in Leeds so he may be someone for you to consider. There is some information on him HERE & on a quick look at google I managed to find only good patient reviews.
I hope your interview goes well tomorrow ,
Best wishes huni. XXX

Re: Very confused and sad
Some surgeons have skill, some have a good bed side manner, some have both some have neither. Sounds like this surgeon may be lacking in the bed side manner, as so many do. They don't seem to quite comprehend that it is upsetting to hear some things and they don't exactly put it in a nice way sometimes. I'm sure you won't feel comfortable with the surgeon you have just seen, however you'll still have to take his advice on board. I'm not sure whether the surgeon mentioned Pectus Carintum or there is another which I can't remember. It can be where the rib cage slopes outward. The appearance can be reduced with dual plane (partial unders) which will hold the implant in place with the top of the implant being held by the muscle. A tear drop (anatomical) shape implant is usually used for ladies with very little breast tissue.
When we all look in to breast augmentations it is usually through private clinics, we pay a lot of money and we would assume paying private means getting the best. However this isn't always the case, the competition is fierce and some of the big companies can be known to do well with straight forward BA's but where any sort of reconstruction is concerned they aren't always the best. For this type of operation you want someone who has done this before, someone with experience of reconstructive surgery of the breast rather than a surgeon who has done hundreds of straight forward BAs. It does sound like the 3rd surgeon does know what he is talking about but has been less than tactfull about getting his message across. It's also very upsetting to hear that things may not be as straight forward. However you do want another consultation with a BAAPs surgeon, probably one that has done reconstructions because those surgeons do work wonders.

Re: Very confused and sad
Thank you all for your experiences. It wasn't really that he upset me I think it was interview stress too. It was just the shock and as he said it would be a 'challenge' which really took me a back. He reassured me that the end result would be much better. He said it was a challenge to the surgeon as it wasn't straight forward. I'm waiting now to see his write up. Since the appointment I've gone from thinking I may as well leave it. Until my boyfriends four year old commented on Friday that my boobies look small today in the top I was wearing. I agree like a lot of you said to trust his advice he was definitely more thorough when examining me. I am quite resilient the first surgeon I saw told me not to worry anything he did would make them look better! And the second said I was pigeon chested! I laughed these off. Just upsetting to find out it won't be straightforward.
Thanks for your kind words xxx
