If I am a 34a now, should the post op bras I am getting now be a band size bigger i.e. 36??

My PC told me to get 34dd/34e but the nurse told me to get 36dd/36e? I was thinking maybe iv been advised to get the 34 to keep my new boobs compressed??

Any help would be appreciated girls Cheerleader xxxx

Maybe get both to be on the safe side? Take a few different sizes and wear the one that feels most comfortable at the time. I think the bigger band is to account for the swelling.

It depends how you wear your 34 at the moment. Iv always been a 34 and worn it on the tightest setting and am a week post op and wearing 34s comfortably but started on the loosest setting when I was swollen and am now on the middle setting.

Now iv got measured Iv actually been told om a 32 band but I still find 34s more comfy.

What about getting the smaller band size and a bra extender? Not sure if you can do this for front fastening bras though.

I bought a band size up but i had mostly asda bras which come up fairly small anyway. They still fit fine now as although the swelling has gone down my cup size is probably a bit bigger.

I'm a 34 band size normally and bought a 34E and 36DD post op bra (Royce) and a 34E sports bra (M&S zip up front). The 34E post op is still too tight due to swelling and bruising around my sides and I can't comfortably wear the sports bra, my boobs are way too big and tender for that at the moment, but the 36DD is perfect, its not loose or anything anywhere so is definately supporting, but remember you'll probably be wearing it day and night so you want to be comfortable. I had to wear my M&S one while the other two were in the wash today and I couldnt wait for my 36DD one to come out, I was stood at the washing machine waiting for it to stop, I dried it with my hairdryer so I could get it back on sooner as the M&S one was soooo tight

Oh yeah, my PS put the 34E post op one on my after the op and I changed it when I got home to the 36DD. I took all three with me and he chose that one for straight after x

I fluctuated on different days between band sizes. On days 3-6 I needed a 34 band and the 32 was way too tight, but within next couple of weeks as I settled I found the 32 fitted more securely. I would get a selection of both, you can always take back the ones you don't need to use xxx

Confused again! Empty Re: Confused again!

Post by sarahsbabies 20th July 2009, 6:59 am

I put my 34E on last night as the 36DD was starting to feel slightly loose over my boobs with the swelling going, and now everything is nice and compact again. So I changed to a smaller and my normal band at 9 days post op.

Hope that helps xx

my pcc told me to buy the same band size sports bra as i would normally be which was 32, but cos of the swelling i did find them a bit tight so i bought a few more after my op in a 34 which were more comfortable, after about the first 2 weeks the 32s were fine tho xx

I would personally buy your usual band size and a pack of bra extenders...they're only a fiver in La Senza and will save you a fortune in bras. That's what I did anyway! I still wear my original sports bras now
