post op appointment?
I've got my first post op appointment on friday with the nurse and I'm just wondering what will happen. Will my stitches be taken out or will she just check them? I'm hoping that all the strapping will get taken off and I can have a proper bath cos at the moment I've having shallow baths and my mum is washing my hair over the sink. Will I have to have more strapping on or just the sports bra? Will it hurt when the stitches are taken out?
Thanks girls. xx

Hiya Hunny
You will probably have the strapping removed i only had mine on a couple of days but i know for most ladies its a week, you wont have anymore strapping he may just put some dressings over your incisions and mine were dissolvable but i know they just cut the end and pull it out will probably be a little uncomfortable rather than painful hun.
Good Luck let us know how you get on.

Re: post op appointment?
My stitches were dissolvable!! But if they are not, it is not painfull they just snip the thread and they mainly just fall off. They will clean and I had micropore tape put on to soften and heal incisions. Strapping removed and all clear given for shower/hair wash. That's the best part....first proper shower....BLISS!!
I think we need to remember that nurses do this all day and forget each is an individual soetimes and fail to notice people are nervous...so ask anything you need answers to i.e. how to I care for incisions? should I massage/ what should I use etc.
It is your body and you have paid for the service. Hope all goes well for you xx

Hi Pinkbabe2008
I had a nurse check a week post-op. She peeled off the steris and checked the wounds were clean and dry (which they were). She then cut the end of the stitches and I guess just pulled, honestly didn't feel a thing. All the inner stitches were dissolvable. She cleaned the wound with some ointment and then reapplied some steri strips. I was then told all was fine to bath and shower and when the steris fell off to leave them off!
Good luck at your appointment, oh, and remember a mirror so you can see your neat little wound line under each boobie - I asked the nurse for one so I could see and was amazed at the neatness! xxxxxxxxx
