Fake tan and micropore
Hiya girls
Hope you're all ok
I just have a few questions... I have my work Xmas do on the 23rd so I'm having a spray tan as I am so white I glow! I know I have to keep the tan away from my scars but what's the best way to do this without leaving weird white marks? I was thinking about hands but is that enough protection?
Also my nurse told me to change my micropore tape when I need to, I'm not sure when this is! The top part is coming off so the top of the scar is exposed if I pull it down... Is it time to change?
Thanks girls xxx

Re: Fake tan and micropore
I would say if its coming away on its own, its time to change it. Just pull it away and replace.
As for the tan, if it were me, I'd avoid it to be honest, better safe than sorry. I've never had one, so dont know whats involved, but surely you'd need something waterproof over your dressings to protect it? Why not go for pale and intruiging! Thats how I roll!

I've never had a fake tan but you won't want anything near your incisions and although your scars are healing I'm not 100% but I imagine you shouldn't have anything on them yet so I think you might have to have the white marks unfortunately by covering them with plasters or similar .., but see what the other ladies say too as I havnt had one before...
I agree with charli... If it's loose like how a plaster is when it needs changing then change your dressing too xx

Haha Chali - I love that... 'Pale and intriguing!'
Lisa - What is your outfit like you're wearing? I know you don't want any weird white marks but if it's only for the Christmas do, then does it matter babe? I'd just get arms, neck and legs done, I wouldn't bother about your body as it wont be on show xxx

Re: Fake tan and micropore
Thanks girls, Charlii I'm so pale I look ill not interesting! I only have a pale fake tan so I look healthy and glowing rather than something that has come back to life lol!
I will wear a bra to be safe I think, but will that give enough protection? My dress is knee length and not low cut and tight so boobies are on show but covered as they're not ready for their debut yet! So that's a good point boney but it always takes ages to wear off and I had planned to wear a lower cut one around Christmas (not them hanging out but lower than the high necked dress)
Thanks for the tips about the micropore, I haven't changed it yet as the bit around my nipple is fine it's just the vertical scar down, I suppose I could just change the vertical bit and wait for the nipple bit to come undone, or is it better to change it all at once? I'm just thinking that the nurse said change it as little as you can.
Thanks again girls. Mwa xx

Re: Fake tan and micropore
I wouldn't risk the tan yet either, a bra or your hands won't be sufficient to cover your scars properly. x

Re: Fake tan and micropore
When changing your micropore, its best to do this in the shower. Its so much easier to remover when its wet than it is when its dry.
As for fake tanning. As long as your scars are COMPLETELY covered (micropore isn't enough) then you're fan to have your fake tan babe.
Its just imperative that your scars are covered to avoid any tan getting near those and possibly causing infection. Nothing is worth risking that is it hun. But if its well covered then its fine babe. X

Re: Fake tan and micropore
Thanks girls. I feel like it's not really a necessity but it will make me feel loads better if I have a bit of colour to me! So if I have a bra on with cotton pads inside and change my micropore so it's all covering will that be ok?
Thanks for the tip cookie, I can't feel the incisions but I wasn't looking forward to tearing it off! Xx

Re: Fake tan and micropore
I changed my micropore tape every few days and dried it throughout with a dryer after.
As for. Tan why not use just a fake instant tan on your face and decolage (sp) and the tip of bronzed just swept over the tops of your new boobs. And of course your arms and legs if they're exposed
X my sister only tans her face legs and arms as the rest is usually covered!!! X

Re: Fake tan and micropore
Thanks Mrs Ball, my nurse said to change it as infrequently as possible so my scars don't get sore but I can't feel them anyway ha ha. Definitely trying the shower trick later when hubby is home so I don't have a 10 month old trying to get in the shower!
I would do it myself but I can't do my legs, they end up really streaky and horrible, also I haven't found a good light tan. When I was younger I used to go out with really white body and brown legs and arms, it looks really strange when you take your clothes off!
Thanks Tinkerbell I will go to boots and find some to be 100% sure no fake tan will get on them x

Re: Fake tan and micropore
Hi I have to use micro pore tape for the next 3 months apparently it flattens the scar. The nurse said to change it as little as possible definitely not several times a week as it can irritate the scar, on the other hand she said dont leave the same piece on longer than 3 weeks, hope that helps. I don't understand how it will flatten my scar though as it sort of wrinkles when you put it on as the scar isn't exactly a straight line. Xx

Re: Fake tan and micropore
I had my micropore tape off both times at 2 weeks and if I do say so myself my scars are amazing lol and I just left them do their own thing
I thought that it was important for the scars to breathe to allow them to heal better, or is thats scabs when you have a cut lol xx

Re: Fake tan and micropore
It's amazing how everyone is given such different advice. I was told the same, to change it as little as often which is why I'm hanging in there with this stuff. I will change it tomorrow as I had a blitz in a toy shop tonight with 'they're only young once' echoing in my head. Lethal!
