Help please!? Price and finance solutions MYA
Hey girls,
I went for my first consultation last night at MYA and have to say that it's kind of changed my mind about going with them.. The girl we (my friend and I) met with was really nice but we both agreed that the whole thing was very rushed and not at all personal.
I know that we should have expected this from an initial (and free) consultation, but still - it didn't really feel right.
Another thing is the price - we were quoted £4850 each. We applied for finance and have found out the results this morning. As my friend only works part-time, she will need a parent to sign into the contract with her. I am eligible but jeeeesus at nearly 5 grand the monthly payments were so high! I know that the longer you take the finance out for, the more you end up paying, but I would have no choice but to go for 36 months and pay £163 a month.
How did you finance yours? Have any of you gone with MYA and managed to get the price down? It seems extortionate to be so high!!
Would you recommend getting a loan/credit card instead? Any of you with a lower income manage to do it? Am really looking for advice for my friend, I could probably quite easily manage the money with my credit card etc.
Thanks in advance!! xx

Re: Help please!? Price and finance solutions MYA
Hi babe,
I don't know much about MYA, so can't really help you on that front. I'm financing mine just by saving up. APR is just ludicrous it's not fair on people. Do you have a deposit to give them? If it's a large some maybe your monthly payments could possibly be lowered? I went to a big company like MYA for my first consultation, just horrible and hated the whole experienced. Then I paid for one and honestly, it's the best thing I ever did. Brilliant and very thorough xx

Re: Help please!? Price and finance solutions MYA
Boney1992, yeah you're right maybe a paid consultation is the way forward.. have got another free consultation through MYA with Dr Singh on the 17th Dec but it seems so far away!! I want my boobs now :(
Princess_x, they were the naturelle ones, she described them as the 'iphone 5' of implants!
I know it would be cheaper to get the older models but the less chance of CC and rupture the better - these were less than 1% apparently!
and tinkerbell24, yes i'm thinking it will probably be the best option to get a loan, just got to keep our fingers crossed that my friend can get one - i'm too scared to do it alone!!
thanks for all of your replies so far :) xxx

Re: Help please!? Price and finance solutions MYA
For that price, or cheaper you could be having surgery with a BAAPS surgeon prs.
I personally wouldn't rush into anything... Like you've said, you've walked out after a rushed consultation feeling confused and not knowing what to do! If you proceed feeling this way prs it could lead to a lot of trouble post-op if you were to have complications babe.
You really do need to take this Surgery so seriously and your surgeon who is the person that's going to be putting a scalpel to your body and changing your shape for life couldn't even give you the time in a consultation to reassure and advise and give you confidence.
Take a step back babe - go and see other surgeons, preferably at least one BAAPS surgeon. You can see one through MyBreast for as little as £25 which is nothing at all for the experience they will share with you and you WILL get about an hour with the surgeon who will explain the surgery 'for you' in detail giving you a BA that is specially tailored to your body type.
BAAPS surgeons have had at least 7 years experience an NHS consultant role and they are literally cherry picked because of their standard of work, but they don't immediately then become BAAPS members. They have to have 2 sponsors and they will go through a BAAPS training program as a trainee member and when its felt they're up to standard they then become a full BAAPS member and the training doesn't stop there hun. They are continuously monitored throughout their membership to ensure they're up to standard and trained in the latest techniques.
So sweetheart, for this calibre of surgeon you can have for that price or more... Surgeons in the large clinics such as MYA don't attract BAAPS members hun. Some of their surgeons may well have an excellent reputation but with a BAAPS surgeon you get that time, you get that assurance and that's worth sooooo much more than how you're feeling now babe.
You can obviously get credit, so why not apply for an interest free credit card. Pop the bill on that and pay it off over the period of time before the interest goes on!
Or go to your bank hun! You'd get a far better interest rate from your bank than you would from MYA. Xx

Thanks so much for the advice Cookie, really informative! I'll need to print all this out and make my own boob job folder
You're all very right, we def need to get second and third opinions! We have a consultation with the hospital group on the 8th Dec, and we are still going to meet Dr Singh on the 17th through MYA, have heard lots of good things about him on here and I really want to know if I can have overs or not which we didn't find out last night!

Re: Help please!? Price and finance solutions MYA
Good luck honey! Glad you're going to get some more opinions. I'm the most eager person in the world, even though I did like my surgeon I found the consultation rushed and not great. I also want my boobs a particular way, and the surgeon said he wouldn't be able make them the way I wanted. I also hated like my PC. Even though I didn't feel comfortable with the company I had gone with I still went a head booked & paid some of my surgery! BAD MOVE...
I then came on here and cried and ranted because I knew I shouldn't have done it. Lots of girls, including Tink said to be several times go and get a second opinion & so I did and the overall outcome couldn't have been more perfect! Xxx

Re: Help please!? Price and finance solutions MYA
Really glad you're happy with your choice now boney1992!
It must feel like a massive relief to know that it's all under way and going smoothly now.
Can't wait to feel the same! It's really nice that the forum helped you, having a BA is something that not a lot of people can understand unless they are either unlucky in the boob department or have any issues with their boobs at all. I feel like most people I know would judge me if I told them (only because they don't have a bony and flat chest!!) so it's good to have a place to talk to people who do understand & be able to ask all of the questions that your clinics most likely wouldn't be entirely truthful about!
I will keep you all updated after our next consultation, excited already! xxx

I'm not sure if you're aware of not babe but not of these surgeons are BAAPS members. It really would be advisable to see at least one, so maybe bare that in mind also. Re: Help please!? Price and finance solutions MYA
Yes definitely, thanks, I'm going to look into paying to see one as it will be more than worth the money to get expert advice! It's a shame that some places such as MYA are mostly just out to grab your money and don't seem to care about the personal issues your boobs can cause xx

Re: Help please!? Price and finance solutions MYA
With regards to paying, Finance is rarely the way forward, it'd be like a payday loan, the APR is ridiculous. I looked into getting a 5K over 3yrs loan, and that worked out at only an additional £250 interest. In the end, i was lucky enough to be approved for a credit card with 12m free interest. But the only way that this is a good solution is if you pay it all off in full before the interest free runs out, or tart the card to a 0% balance transfer (which I need to do in Feb). Or of course, take some time to save up.
I definitely agree with the girls, you need to see someone else. This is your body they are slicing and dicing open, and if you feel at all rushed, you need to put your hand up and say whoa, this is the information I want, and im not leaving until I get it. Never let anyone, surgeon or PCC, push you into anything.

Re: Help please!? Price and finance solutions MYA
Ok hun - i did go to MYA recently - pls see my thread...
and I didnt go for the 2nd consultation - the PCC was great and i was not rushed at all ..
bt the environment was too 'commercialised' for me - and it all looked too good ..
i think i mentioned in my thread that they even had bottled water with the MYA labels etc ..
i came back here straight away and moaned - oh dolls how did you all cope with me ...
Anyways - fast forward - i can tell you for the price you have been quoted you def will get a straight forward BA with a BAAPS reg surgeon and with a fantastic hospital ..
Spires + surgeon - cost is less or equal ..
Spires offer lifetime cover (pls see all the threads about this) and surgeon offers 1yr full cover - again see all the threads..
Please do see other surgeons ...
Now i am a figure head - @ 163 a month for 36 months - you will end up payin £5868... which is 1018 interest ..
that is an apr of about 21%...
I will say approach your bank or even get a new credit card that give you one of those free offers of 9 months int free credit etc ..
Now it will do you alot of good to save a good healthy deposit and then to the rest via loan / credit card ...
Please do try MY Breast for £25 to see a BAAPS reg surgeon ..
I never made it to my surgeon consultation with MYA - so really cant tell what the surgeon consultation would be like ..
I did make my Transform surgeon's appointment though ..

Re: Help please!? Price and finance solutions MYA
Thanks Charlii, I have read about being a 'card tart', let me know how that works out for you because it sounds like a really good idea, when I told my dad I'd got a credit card I thought he was going to disapprove but he told me to do the same haha!
and Prettylil, yes I saw the bottles of water with the logo on! Pretty tacky really, and all the pictures on the walls of the TOWIE cast members... not the type of place I was hoping for! Should have known from the website really, it's obviously all about the publicity for them! I will take a look at your thread definitely. Also it's v exciting that your BDay is only 6 days away!!

Re: Help please!? Price and finance solutions MYA
I think a lot of peoples perceptions of credit cards are that theyre straight up bad because its money thats not yours. But the only way theyre 'bad' is if you dont pay them off and end up in trouble with interest on them. I was lucky enough to be able to pay off a large sum with a work bonus, so my 'minimum payment' on the card right now is only £25. But I top that up by £75, so £100 paid every month, and I have a spreadsheet to keep ontop of the payments. Then in Jan I'll look for a new card with at least 12m 0% balance transfer, and low one off fee. Yes, you end up paying a 3% charge by putting it on a credit card, and with a balance transfer there may be another 1-2% charge, but in the long run, its a hella lot less than all the interest you'd end up paying, especially if you've got a good deposit.
Also, having a credit card that you pay off in full is good for things in the future, like mortgages, even just getting a phone contract.

Re: Help please!? Price and finance solutions MYA
I agree with you Charli - it builds your credit rating and at the same time gives you new boobs - loool
But hun - YOU MUST stay on top of the payments and make sure you are comfortable to pay all up before the intrest kicks in or that you are comfortable to pay the credit card int rate - which could also be high ..
a good deposit will go along way also ..
5% int is a lot better than 21% int..
Do your financial due diligence - like i said i have a nack for figs - so any questions on figs - ask away and i will do my best to help
yes - am 6 days away and on arnica now ..
am very very excited and nervous

Yes you're right a good deposit will make a massive difference, am hoping to put one down of about £1,500 which I will hopefully be able to save by Feb.. I know that REALLY I should wait a year and save properly but I'm too impatient !! I have finally built up the courage to look into getting one (after reading all of your stories and doing lots and lots of research) even though I've wanted one for years and years.
I'm going away to croatia with my friends in July and want them to be as ready as possible by then :) gives me 6 months so fingers crossed it will be okay! xxx

Just to add more re surgeons, I went to see a surgeon through aurora who was baaps registered and they charge £4000 for ba with no consultation fee and also went to spire mini consultations with baaps surgeons which was also free. So if you wanted to get more of a feel for surgeons at this stage that's an option :)

PRS - a deposit of £1500 is healthy ..
then go ahead and pick a sensible finance option and try to get out before the int free period ends ..
its really the interest that becomes a burden and a killer ..
I totally understand how you feel ...
I wanted mine too asap - and grabbed the next available date in Dec as I was not well prepared for Nov
