Re: Bleeding and very red tender breasts
Yes, it is actually tearing open. Not pretty at all, but I taped them very close together last time so they healed well then. I'm going to do it again, but it looks like the stitches are ready to pop out and bleeding so I'm leaving it for tonight. It's very wide this time so I don't know if I will have much success having neat scarring! I will give the hospital a ring tomorrow. I think it will be useful just to note it on their system as I don't want the same ones for the second stage. Xx

I feel perfectly fine though. Hoping the antihistamines kick in so that the skin doesn't tear further. I will give a call tomorrow and make an appointment with GP next week if necessary x

Re: Bleeding and very red tender breasts
Sorry to hear your'e having these awful problems! Your surgeon whether working within the NHS or private should have an email that he can be contacted on and I'm sure he would want to see you ASAP given the problems you are having! You need to let them know what is happening , they have your best interests at heart and will want to get you good results from your op, so please do contact your surgeon as a matter of urgency huni! Re: Bleeding and very red tender breasts
Thanks for the support
I woke up and it had burst open. It's a deep hole with plenty of bloody leakage so I keep sticking plasters on. The other one hasn't opened up yet.
Mirren001, I got a postmaster delivery failure notification when I tried to email him in the past and his secretary didn't pick up as it's a saturday.
I rang the hospital and they offered me an appointment next week, but I am back at work so I have left it for the time being as I have read that not much is done at all. If it gets worse I will call up next week. Will also try to get a contact email for my surgeon again as the one on the letter can't be right.
I think as long as I take antihistamines it will be fine and the wounds will heal up again.

I def think that there might be an allergy as you are fine on the antihistamines, you really should go and see when you can xx

Re: Bleeding and very red tender breasts
Hiya, a lot of NHS surgeons also do private work elsewhere so you could maybe try google to find out if your surgeon does and email the private practice just to keep him in the know, I'm sure they wouldn't mind given your circumstances. XXX

Re: Bleeding and very red tender breasts
Thanks for the advice and apologies for the late reply.
I decided to carry on taking antihistamines, but once again the wounds were opening up leaving deep holes so I decided to ring my gp- didn't have a clue. Rang my surgeons secretary, got passed to a nurse, they gave me an appointment that day. I went in to the dressing clinic. It was looked at by a nurse, then a registrar on the ward who told me it was not an allergic reaction (it definitely is). They gave me some steri strips and large padded swabs, then sent me on my way.
I should have known nothing would be done. Not that I expected them to fix the holes, I just expected an explanation or a thought as to what possible reason(s) could cause healed wounds to reopen.
They have now calmed down a lot since doubling up on the dose for a couple of days.
Just wanted to update you all x

Yes, NHS. I don't feel at all reassured as I wasn't given a single answer. It feels like they either have very little knowledge, or they're totally disinterested in helping me.

Hopefully you start to turn the corner soon! If not keep going back until you get answers, kick up a fuss if you have to , just don't let them fob you off! XXX

Re: Bleeding and very red tender breasts
Sorry I had not replied to this. The wounds stopped opening 6 months after the op. My surgeon had a chance to see it at my 5 month follow up since surgery and he couldn't really offer an explanation but told to keep it covered.
I will stock up on antihistamines for the next because taking even two day breaks has caused some dark scarring as they were allowed to pop open. I hope this helps others.
