The day after...my progress
hey ladies, had my ba yesterday, everything went fine no probs at all happened really quick too! got 450cc's. had a lot of pain in my left boob but it was just swelling on the side. had the worst nights sleep too, waking up every hour. am soooo sore, skins uber tight finding it hard to move even using my abs as all ribs feel bruised, since the journey home (2 hrs 30 mins) my skin has gone really red and I feel like I've swollen loads :( don't know whether it's my bra or the skin that's so tight!
just wondering if this is normal? do not wanna be feelin like this for too much longer! trying to be brave but ouchie!! :(

Re: The day after...my progress
Awww hunny, congrats.
Yes all totally normal, tight over stretched skin can make it appear red and blotchy and maybe a bit itchy where it's stretched .
Bruisng and swelling normal and can be pretty uncomftBle. Ice packs or a bag of frozen peas can help. Just use over bra and don't get anywhere near insisions
Sleeping can be uncomftBle and broken early post op.
Building a pillow fort using your v pillow to help support your head and shoulders and arms, helps. With a rolled up towel in the small of your back and maybe a pillow under your knees to prevent back ache.
Take painkillers just before bed too.
Eat little and regularly to keep strength up, and protein for body repair. A quick scrambled egg, or egg and soldiers is brilliant.
If your bars feeling a bit tight providing it's a back fastening one use bra extenders to help whilst you're swollen.
And finally you won't feel like this for long, a week is usually the turning point for most women. Take each day as it comes. Each day you're healing and therefore getting better.
Happy healing hunny xx

Re: The day after...my progress
If your breasts are so painful they can't be controlled by painkillers or they feel hot and you have a temp at all then then that's not normal and you will have been given a 24 hour emergency number when you left the hospital babe to use if you need to sweetie.
But the swelling and sore abs and ribs... All that's very normal. The journey home is unsettling and the sooner you're settled the better and mrsball has given excellent advice lovely, but if you're not coping at all, do use the number you've been given, that's what you paid for hun. Xx

Re: The day after...my progress
Thanks girls
day 3 and feelin a little better each day got more movement today with my arms, breast bone still feels really bruised and on the side ribs. Coming down with a rotten cold today so that's knocked me! Their still sore and rock solid, lefty is more swollen too.
Had to swap my Macom bra on the second day as I felt I was getting so swollen and that was making my skin red and blotchy, hurt so much taking it off but have a tri-action sports bra on now (bigger band) and feels a lot more comfy.
Got savage heart burn today, I think because I took an anti-biotic and then layed down and went to sleep, was awful when I woke up.
Feeling pretty rotten, as haven't washed and hair is now a grease bucket! really struggling to get comfy in any position, how long do we have to sleep upright? Sleep still broken, woke up at 4am shuffled around sat upright as back is really starting to ache took some painkillers and eventually went back to sleep.
Look forward to improving more tomorrow! does anyone know how long they stay hard? xxx

Re: The day after...my progress
You don't need to sleep upright, only your head and sholders above chest level, so an extra pillow is fine. It is hard to get comfortable. Many women here use a vpillow and create a pillow fort but for me it just wasn't happening and to be honest it took about 2/3 weeks until I felt comfortable again for the whole night. That's what I did though, woke up early hours in a little pain so the painkillers really help.
My boobs are really softening up now at 11 weeks, Its hard to put a time on when they will start softening as we are all different but maybe around the 4 week mark?
other than that, glad to hear your feeling better :) happy healing xx

Re: The day after...my progress
The Triaction extreme is super comfy isn't it babe. I love that bra.
The broken sleep is awful isn't it and you're going to have to slept 'propped up' and not sat upright for about 2 weeks babe so the best you can do is to try and make yourself more comfortable.
Are you using the pillow fort? If not then try that lovely:
Just one pillow, or two whichever feels most comfortable behind your head with your V-pillow. There's absolutely no need to be sat upright. All that's necessary is that your head and shoulders are raised above chest level.
A pillow placed under each arm to support your arms
A pillow under your knees to take the strain away from your back. This also helps stop you shuffling down the bed.
A rolled towel placed in the small of your back to offer a little support of the lumber spine.
If your backs sore, put some heat on it. A hot water bottle or those microwave heat pads are great to just pop on your back and when standing, do be aware of your posture... You may find you instinctively hunch at first, but try and straighten yourself up as much as you can without causing you any discomfort.
Hopefully you'll get a better night tonight babe.
Oh and for your hair.... Try some dry shampoo babe. It just gets you through till you're up to washing it. Xx

Re: The day after...my progress
I've just got the normal Tri-action, it's ok. I tried what you said and did sleep better. Last night was the first time I slept through!! took the painkiller before bed and think that made a difference. Thanks for the advice Cookie.
My progress is gradual, lefty is still more swollen and tender. Am able to move my arms a bit more and partner says he can notice they've dropped a little. I haven't bonded with them yet as just see them as hard rocks attached to my chest!
I've only been wearing one bra, and scared to take it off. Only have one that fits due to swelling. should I buy another too big whilst I'm healing so I can switch over? don't want to waste too much money. 11 weeks to soften! :( xxx

Awww I'm just glad to have been able to help hun
Maybe just buy some bra extenders for your other bra, rather than a lot of money on a bra? They're not much money at all, very cheap on amazon and no more than a fiver in the shops hun. Xx

Re: The day after...my progress
I hope your right Tink, ye have got real good friends on call, coming round to wash my hair and help me get in fresh pj's, have lived in pj's for 9 days and not gone out of the house until today! went out for a little walk but so painful, my nipples are horrendous at the moment. so swollen and sore, sticking out loadz, could feel them rubbing on my bra when I walked is this normal for them to be sooooo sore?
Cookie, my new bra arrived but must still be swollen as there was no way we cud get the 32dd on even with bra extenders! must have been a 6 inch gap still xxx

Re: The day after...my progress
It is normals for nipples to be sensitive hun. Try popping some round make-up pads over them, or getting some breast feeding pads if you'd prefer. These help lots as they act as a nice cushion against the nipple rather than the bra material which can feel quite abrasive when they're so sensitive.
Getting yourself up and out for a walk in the fresh air is great, but just take it easy at first lovely, building up tour strength slowly. The walking is going to help getting rid of that swelling and also get you back on the road to normality babe.
I'm sorry the bra didn't fit. Poor you, you must have some swelling there. Have you tried adding a couple of expanders together rather than using just the one?
If you are able to get out now it may be best for you to go debenhams maybe and get fitted for a sportsbra sweetheart. Its so important to be supported but its just as important that you're comfortable hun. The last thing your surgeon would want would be for you to be going through a lot of discomfort. Be sure you're taking the painkiller whilst you need them too... They'll help you through the worst and sweetie.... It DOES get better
