What to expect when the bandages come off?!
Hi girls,
As a few of you might be aware I had my BA on saturday and am due to have my first Post Op check up on friday to have my bandages off, etc. Unlike most of you I'm really worried about what I'm going to see when I look down...can any of you tell me what they're going to look like? :pale:
I imagine them to look really deformed and shiny and I'm pretty squeamish so don't want to see my scars either!! If someone can talk me through it I'm sure I can prepare myself!!
Thanks! xxx

Re: What to expect when the bandages come off?!
All surgeons are different but when my bandages which were over my incisions came off i had steri strips over my incisions so i didnt see my scars until about 3 weeks post op and by then they were pretty small and healed, didnt look scary at all. My boobs were pretty shiny for a while because i was quite flat pre op and my skin had stretched x
Re: What to expect when the bandages come off?!
I didn't think mine looked deformed but they did look shiny, but it didn't look to weird for them to be shiny. I was so scared of seeing my scars, even told the nurse I didn't want to see them. But when I did get the nerve to look at them the following day, they were fine, I was so worried about nothing.
Re: What to expect when the bandages come off?!
They will look shiny and a bit bruised.
I wasn't 100% sure when I took a quick glance in the mirror at the clinic but once I got home and looked at them properly, tried some clothes on and took pictures, I loved them.
You need to remember that it will be early days and that they change so much over the first 6 weeks.
I had a hissy fit around the 3 week mark, convinced that they were shrinking but I'm so happy with them now. Although, I know that there will be more changes in store as I am only 6 weeks.
I don't think that the scars look as bad as people imagine.
Mine were already a pinky colour and didn't have much scabbing.
They were more bruised around the incisions.
Try not to worry, it will all be fine and you will love your new boobs.
Good luck!

If mine turn out half as nice as yours after only 6 weeks, Marie, I will be one happy bunny!
With so much talk on how they change over the weeks/months/years(!) I was beginning to think it'd be so long before I'd be able to get them out, but yours look so fantastic I'm starting to feel optimistic! x

Thanks hun! It took about 5-6 weeks before they started to look normal in a bra. Before that, they were halfway up my chest!!

Like the others have said they will be shiny maybe a little bruised and quiet high up on your chest, but they wont look deformed you probably wont want to touch them for a while as they will be quiet numb but i dont think you will see your scars yet hun as they normally keep steri strips on them but i felt the same as you as im very squeamish but it didnt bother me when i seen them i just had a litte peek then left them alone.
Im sure you will be fine hun x x

Re: What to expect when the bandages come off?!
Thanks girls for all the advice and encouragement!
When the bandages came off yesterday I said I didn't want to see but the nurse said "I think you're going to want to see these, they're beautiful' and it's true!! I love them!! I have one tiny bruise above my right nipple and they are a teeny bit shiny but nothing like I imagined! In a discreet sports bra you'd never tell from the state of them that I'd had a BA, they're just perfect! I even wore a strap top home!
I know there are a lot of changes to come but lets just say I'm feeling optimistic about it all. The first hurdle is over and Im so glad I went through with it!!
