Feeling queesy with scar massage
Does massaging your scars make anyone else feel really queasy? Like nautious? Its not so bad when I do my right, and thats a lot nicer and smoother now, but on my darling troublesome left, it leaves me feeling really sick, especially on the inner knot where its quite lumpy still. Its putting me off doing it, but its catch 22 - the lump wont go unless I massage, but I dont want to because the feeling makes me wanna vom!
Anyone else had this?

Re: Feeling queesy with scar massage
I got hubs to mine Charlii lol. The bumpy parts would turn my stomach, so he helped with the more firmer massage. I could just about rub a little bio-oil in xx

It can make you feel funny, however I've never massaged any of mine and they've all turned out fine and faded very well. X

Re: Feeling queesy with scar massage
It did feel weird to start with and I wondered if I was putting the right amount of pressure on to make a difference. My PS did rub his fingers on my hand to show me the pressure I should be massaging with, but when I got home my mind was blank!
I have been massaging since my 6 week check now and I do it each morning and evening without even thinking about it, although it did take me a few times to feel happy with it.
Xx

Re: Feeling queesy with scar massage
yes me!!
i've only just been advised to start doing this after a PO check with my surgeon on monday, but it does make me feel a little queasy...
i too still have a few little lumps and bumps, so i know its important. not sure if i'm doing it long enough though? my mind went a bit blank as well haha
i was also advised to get some scar gel like kelocote or dermatix, anyone else using this? i haven't bought it yet, just been using body lotion and bio oil..

Re: Feeling queesy with scar massage
Princess confused it's not normally until at least the 6 week check because until then nothing should go near the incisions... don't start unless you have been told you can :) xx
Blue I've heard about that being very expensive and not much different to just using bio oil? If you've been advised by your surgeon though it might be worth it? Xx

Re: Feeling queesy with scar massage
Unless you're having problems with your scars Blue, the cost of these scar treatments is extortionate and totally unnecessary babe. As many of the ladies have said, they've left their scars completely alone and they've healed beautifully. I did this too with my first scars. They were no trouble, so I didn't even touch them and they were barely visible.
I only had to massage really for consecutive surgeries because of the problems I've had with scars, so unless they're thick. Or keloid like babe, I really wouldn't waste your money.
Things like bio-oil are good for helping with the massage action but plain old moisturiser works just the same lovely.
I've noticed some clinics are sling these creams at ridiculous prices but honestly.... It's just money in the bank for the clinic. Xx

Re: Feeling queesy with scar massage
hm my surgeon just said you could use a scar gel, and wrote down a few names for me and which pharmacies i could get them at. he said i didnt have to but i could do, and i said if he thinks it might help then i may as well give it a try, but havent had time to look into it yet, just using bio oil for now.
they look very neat but still a bit red-ish (i can tell they're fading though) and a little bit bumpy still so he said i should massage.
trying hard not to think about the queasyness while i'm doing it lol :)
how long do you girls massage for at a time? I'm quite an impatient person haha.. x

Re: Feeling queesy with scar massage
Haha... Nahhhh, just a couple a minutes moving side to side along the scar will do. Xx
Re: Feeling queesy with scar massage
Brilliant, not just me then! I use the tamanu balm, but anything that helps lubricate the movement would do. Guess i'll just have to suck it up!
