getting measured

I'm thinking of going to get meausred on Friday as I'll be 6weeks po then. I've read loads of things on here about m&s not being the best place to go so where would you recommend? (Not Bravissimo as there is none here) 
Also ive never been for a fitting before, what can I expect, do u have to stand topless lol?

Google lingerie shops in your area hun. They're the next best thing to Bravissimo as they specialise ONLY in lingerie so the fitters should know exactly what they're doing and be updated with how they go about it.

When you go for a fitting you won't be measured at all.

The fitter will ask that you remove your top with the curtain closed and then allow her to come in whilst you're still wearing your bra.

They will ask the size of the bra you're currently wearing.

They'll then run their fingers around the band of your bra to check to see if this is too loose or too tight.

They'll then take a look at the cups of the bra and see how well they fit also.

They'll then head off and bring you quite a few bras to try on.

Your discretion will be taken into consideration at all times and the fitter will only do what you're comfortable with. If you need help getting into the bra, she'll help you do that, if you're fine doing this yourself you'll be left to it.

She'll then after you've tried on a bra ask to see to you in it, she'll do all the things she did when looking at you in your first bra and will ask how it feels.

If its not right then another size will be there for you to try on and this will continue until you're in a bra that 'fits' you.

So you will be 'fitted' rather than 'measured' hun.

I'm sure you'll find a lingerie shop nearby, most people don't even realise they're about but they do tend to be scattered about everywhere..

Beau avenue is not a shop I've used myself but it does get some very good rating here

If you can't find one then of the department stores Debenhams would be your best hun. Xx

Thats good to know I'll not be standing in middle of the shop half naked lol!

Hahaha some ladies just don't like the thought of a fitter seeing their naked boobs and some even avoid having a fitting because they fear this might be the case, 'for them' lol... Knowing its not like that at all helps them feel more relaxed.

If you do find a lingerie shop then cal ahead and book an appointment. This just ensures that all their time is spent on just you whilst you're there. Xx

I was measured pre op at marks and they used the tape measure! I measure a 32 but they somehow measured me at a 36D?! Honestly it was just so embarrassing I walked out feeling horrible.... I got measured at a small shop to me like cookie suggested and they said a 32B however I always wore a 34 ....

I was also worried about being braless haha!!
I think it's worth though if you do go to places like boux avenue you get fitted there aswell so you know what your looking at for their bras :) good luck! Xx

U can't go wrong following cookies advise pixiedust it's got to be dun like cookie described with no measuring involved. Marks and spencer are crap.

Thanks Jennifer there is no boux avenue here, the only places here I know are m&s Debenhams and ann summers! But I have googled and found an independent lingerie shop,  they actually have 2 shops in town that I never even noticed before but thats probably because I never needed to look for nice bras before lol

You've just hit the nail on the head Pixie. I too use a small lingerie shop close to home that I never knew existed either until I actually set about to look for one!

I'm glad you've found some though babe and hope you have a fab experience when you go and have your fitting - not half naked in the middle of the shop though hahaha you did make me laugh when you said that. Xx

Wow, just been looking at this thread and googled independent lingerie shops and there's loads of them within my local area.

Amazing how much you don't notice when you're not looking for it!!

Now I'm all excited about shopping for new bras and I've got AGES to wait!!

I went to bravissimo to get mine done I didn't know there was other places that u get fitted in. I'm going to look at google to thanx cookie.
