Trapezius muscle pain Empty Trapezius muscle pain

Post by michelleserila 7th October 2013, 9:45 pm

Hi,
Have found out which muscle is causing me pain, the trapezius muscle. Trying to make sure I stand straight with shoulders down, but the stuff I read about this muscle says a tight bra strap can cause this too. The right side where this pain is has been showing bra strap marks on my shoulder, but it doesn't feel tight... shrug  dunno if its like one side has dropped more than the other which is why the left side is absolutely fine but the right side isn't??? Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get rid of this pain, its not there all the time but when it does come it really really hurts?? nope

I've not heard of any BA problems related to that area of the back babe other than the possibility of stress over your recovery?

It would probably be advisable to go to see your GP for a check over though lovely, just to out anything else. Xx

Found a few posts on google of people who have had a ba amd had problems with the muscle, think mostly bad fitting bras was the problem but did also say stress. Have been stressed at work due to boss not being understanding about my ba and finishing my thesis for my masters degree, so think a good destress is necessary! Thanks cookie, will definitely go see my gp ASAP to check all ok. Xox

hi hun,

sounds like you might have been subconsciously tensing up and that's where the pain is coming from, possibly in combination with an ill fitting bra?

once you are given the go ahead to wear normal bras, it would be adviseable to go and get fitted properly, then at least you'll have that problem eliminated.

and then maybe a neck and shoulder massage? :)

Aww Michelle I'm not really sure but blues idea of a massage sounds nice! Maybe it is a combination of the stress and the tensing .... I agree about getting fitted so you know it's not that.. Hope it's sorted for you soon and let us know if you find out anything xx

It could be down to the BA. Not the BA itself, but the fact you've had surgery. You've probably not been sleeping in a natural position, the new weight on your body means you're going to be holding yourself differently, you're not doing much exercise. All this could contribute. Also, It could be slightly weakened by the lack of arm movement/lifting weights. Maybe once you've got the all clear you could try some resistance work to get the strength back up. But I would definitely reccomend a 15min neck and shoulder rub nightly from your other half ;)

Oooh sounds nasty. Maybe a massage would be a good thing. You may well have been tensing up in the early weeks, trying to avoid moving too freely and hurting yourself and as a result may have trapped a muscle somewhere else.

If the massage doesn't work you should see your GP as they may recommend some physio or other exercises to sort it out. Hope you're not in too much pain.x

Thanks everyone!! wavey  Yes, think it is mixture of stress, tensing, lack of arm movement and sleeping position!!! Shocked

Will definitely be getting the hubby doing back and neck massages!!! Heading back to the gym next week, gently easing into it, so hopefully that will build up strength and loosen things up again!!! Also can wear normal bras next week and get properly fitted so hopefully that will help too!!!!!!!!!
