Ribcage and bra size - help !!
Hi girls,
I have been just looking through post op stats thread to get find other with similar stats and see what size they ended up with..
And I cannot understand why bra size is different to ribcage size???
For example, if my ribcage is 34', should my bra size not be 34A?
I'm confused.. but now I have measured myself and found that although I wear 34B (super padded;-), my ribcage is 32'???
Any ideas?? xx

In theory, yes your ribcage should be your band size, however bra fitting is not an exact science and often ladies need to go up a band size for comfort and straightness across the back.
It also depends on the style of bra that you are trying.
I measure 28" on my ribcage but I wear a 30" bra x

This is because of the old method for bra fitting was to 'add 4' onto under bust measurement, to create band size. This is no longer done, but I don't think it has been very well publicised, as I had no idea until I joined this site! So many girls probably still use that method to fit bras x

I'm a 28.5 and wear 30 or 32 depending on what bra. I went to m&s they measured me a 34! And there is no way I'm that, didn't end up buying anything from there as the annoyed me! So it really depends on what feels comfortable for you Hun xx

I measure 27.5/28 round my ribcage and wear a 28 band i certainly get the support now after wearing a 32 band for so many years which was the total wrong size and not supportive at all. !
