Incision care and bras
Hi,
So had my bandages and strapping off last monday, and the incisions covers were changed for waterproof ones. The nurse said to keep these new waterproof plasters on for 5 more days then take them off as everything was healing fine and got dissovable stitches. Bit worried about bra bands on top of incisions after the plaster comes off though??? any advice???
Also, my hubby and I remember either the head nurse or the surgeon saying to keep the sports bra on 24/7 for 2 weeks, then 12 hours a day and off at night after till I have my 6 week appointment with the surgeon. However, when I saw the other nurse last monday she said I could start taking my bra off at night if I wanted. Way to scared to, so keeping it on as well as think thats what te surgeon said to do anyways!!! after the 2 week mark is it normal not to wear a bra a night, or is it based on how your feeling???
thanks guys for any advice!!!!

Whatever post-op instruction you get to get the best for YOUR result babe is very normal, so don't worry about what anyone else has to do and just focus on you sweetie.
If your incisions feel irritated at any time by your bra band then a panty liner or sanitary towel (sticky side against your bra) will act as a nice cushion for them hun. Xx

Michelle I had my op 2 days after you, on day 9 post op I had my wound check and waterproof dressings removed. I just have steri-strips over the incisions now and I haven't had any discomfort at all. I was also told sports bra 24/7 for 2weeks but not told what to do after that. I'll contact them and find out I think. That 2 week mark is fast approaching!
