Re: First shower!!!!
It's bliss isn't it?!
With regards to the dressings, I would do exactly what she has told you to do - and if you aren't sure just keep dressings on until you see your PS, better to be on the safe side - alternatively you could give the nurse a ring tomorrow x

Re: First shower!!!!
Aw I am so jealous!! I'm 6 days post op, don't see my ps for another week so can't get a proper shower until then :( the nurse said my dressings are waterproof but they won't withstand much, so I've just not got a shower at all just a shallow bath. My mum washed my hair for me yesterday over the sink, I'm so fed up, can't wait to be able to get a nice hot shower again and feel clean!!! xxxx

Re: First shower!!!!
I'm 3 weeks post op and still feel weird showering. Like I feel I need to hold them. Anyone else like this?
Also I'm really scared to get shower gel or shampoo anywhere near them... How long do I have to be careful for? My nurse or PS never said x

Re: First shower!!!!
I only kept the dressings on for a week then the steri strips for another week. But go with what the nurses say at your appointments :)

Re: First shower!!!!
Aww that first shower is bliss! Having a proper clean feeling.
If she's given you 5 days worth I would take that o mean popping new dressing on after shower and drying incisions with a cool HAIRDRYER making sure they're properly dry, and then removing them in the shower you take the next day. And repeat!
So shower, removing any old drips, dry insions, then pop new dressing on .
Ring the clinic to double check though Hun.
Yes having that holding onto them invade they fall off is very common , don't worry they won't! As they drop and settle and become feeling more part of you those initial feeling of having to hold them go.
You can let the water and shower gel run over them don't submerge them. The water will rinse anything off. The mot important part is for them being bone dry after , using the HAIRDRYER on a cool setting will do the trick x

Re: First shower!!!!
Ooooo that first shower is ammmmazing
I'd do as MrsB says babe. You've been given 5 days worth of dressings, so take off the dressing, shower, thoroughly dry as directed by MrsB then reapply. After you've used all the dressings you no longer need to use them... Unless you're not happy with your healing and if this is the case then give your clinic a call to get the nurse to take a look for you babe... Otherwise, you're fine to have no more dressings. Xx
