How would you know if an implant has ruptured?
Would a surgeon be able to tell by feeling? My boobs have continued to get softer and softer but today i've noticed that my right one is really really extra squidgy and my boob feels a bit weird underneath the nipple. I don't know if i'm being paranoid or if there is any other explanation? I know it's probably nothing but it has creeped me out a bit. When i squeeze the underneath bit tho the top bit still goes fatter like it always has, surely a ruptured implant wouldn't do this? x

There's no way a rupture of a silicone implant could be felt by feeling the breast babe. Not even the greatest surgeon in the world could detect a rupture in this way. The ONLY way a rupture can diagnosed is through a scan. An ultrasound can sometimes detect ruptures but they are fool proof and therefore the best means of detection is by having an MRI.
Sometimes when an implant ruptures the body reacts to the rupture. You may feel pain, the breast may swell or possibly distort.
There is also something called a 'silent rupture' this is when the body doesn't react to the rupture and because the silicone implants will hold their shape even with a rupture therefore you'd be non the wiser at all to having a rupture unless you had your breast scanned. This is why an MRI is recommended every 3 years, even if you have no symptoms, we should all have regular MRIs to check for ruptures.
From what you've described lovely it doesn't sound like a rupture at all, it just sounds like the breast is continuing to soften up. Mine are as soft as a natural breast if I'm just having a soft squidge, really squidgey and super soft, but if I squeeze hard I do feel the pressure of the implant.
All sounds normal babe, if you feel there's a problem with your nipple though it may be wise to see your GP and have them check that out for you. Xx

Aww cheers Cookie. I calmed down a lot after reading some previous posts on rupture. There was one where you had said that surgeon's sometimes drive over the implants and they still don't rupture and i've not had any knocks or anything so i know it cannot plausibly be a rupture. Think it just freaked me out because i didn't think they could possibly get any softer but they really are like natural boobs =] thanks again Cookie, invaluable as always :hugme:i'm not feeling too great either so that's probably why i'm feeling a bit tender as well x x x
