Any of you ladies that have had a ba, how long before you we're lifting again? Or squatting for that matter? I know everyone is different but just wondered what general consensus was!

My surgeon said I'd be ok to do leg work when I feel happy too, sweating fine etc. 4 months for netball. I am not sure about lifting. You drf need to check with ur surgeon as some say do nothing at all for 6 weeks. Really no idea about weights though. X

I think with overs you should be okay at the 6 week mark..
I lift heavy but right now can't imagine ever lifting again Lol! I had unders though. Discussed at length with surgeon pre op as didn't want lifestyle to be affected and he wasn't concerned it would be. I will Defo be over cautious though

Hiya, I have had unders, and have been told by PS not to start on my upper body for 3 months.

I would ere on the side of caution, especially if you lift heavy, I am planning to start properly on my upper body 6 months post op.  There are lots of other exercises I can do whilst getting back to full fitness.

Good luck with your op!

It's usually 12 weeks for starting to lift LIGHT again. You will have to start light and build up.
I'd say around6 months to be where you were lifting though

How heavy do it lift and sqaut with , if you don't mind me asking? X

You will certainly know about it if you've gone to heavy to start!

I usually squat with reps of 40kg and end with 60kg. Dumbell curls with 12kg each side so not extremely heavy but might start with baked bean tins and a broom handle for squatting :) Although I think it's the squats that will have to be put on hold as the way my arms would be stretched round the bar would be too much. I not a gym freak or anything and only been training 5 months but now I've started I would like to keep at it xx

I agree misty I think it's surprising how much you use your chest muscles so yes, even squatting with a bar you are going to be stretching and straining that muscle. I only started training in January too but I love it and really hope I will still be able to train further down the line. After all big Boobs look great in sports wear would be such a waste!

Girls that lift Empty Re: Girls that lift

Post by Sam5886 11th August 2013, 10:30 am

I had unders and was told post op never to lift weights again due to possible deformation of the implant. I was absolutely gutted.

Once I'd calmed down and thought rationally about it (and had info from some lovely ladies on here)I decided that once I've been given the all clear to go back to the gym, I need to sort out routine that doesn't specifically isolate my chest muscles ie chest flies or chest presses.

I was doing 40gk bars and 16kg dumb bells.

Misty, I've been training since last October but your abs are something else. What exercises do you do for those??  I've decided a tummy tuck is the only way I'm gonna get rid of four kids C sections and hysterectomy worth of saggy skin.

I mostly use free weights and have a cable machine at home (saddo I know) lol

I too was worrying about fitness, I did go over this with my surgeon very thoroughly. More than the size etc..... He gave me times for all my fitness, as I do lots of different things.... My running, boxing, spinning 6 weeks. Weight lifting 6 weeks to start light and work up. Yoga may be 5-6 weeks. It's going to kill me.... I am a fitness junkie........ We all have our vices.... And I do agree fitness clothes look great if you got boobies, so may have to go treat myself to some new sportswear...........

I'm nearly 7 weeks post op and I tried to do some pole dancing Saturday and I can spin etc but using the upper body for understand didn't feel comfy so I had some moves that I couldn't do , so I know I'm not quite ready for the upper boy work x

It won't be long Sophia, you will soon be twirling around that pole. I will be itching to get back to it... But I've got to take it easy.... Hard for me as I'm hyper all the time and can't sit down for 2 minutes.......x

Sorry not read your other replies ! I think your looking at 12 weeks from op to lift on upper body but probably 6 weeks to do legs
I'm doing my first bikini comp in October and then plan to have my op 4 days later . It worries me I will have to take 3 months out but I'm determined to do that and then get back into it once I'm healed . Thing is I really want the implants so I have to do it at some point & winter is a good time! X

Oooooh a bikini comp.... How exciting..... It is best to not get done mid summer. We will be in nice dresses for Xmas.... It's going to kill me, no fitness. I'm mainly a runner, but I do boxing and my surgeon said no, not for at least 6 weeks incase I get a blow to the chest............. Great....... Love my gym. But going to love my boobs and I think we will soon get back into it......

Oooh good luck with your bikini comp fitness jo x I think surgeon said 4-6 weeks for legs which is what I need to concentrate on anyway. Will see how it goes. I'm sure my body will let me know if I'm overdoing it x
