Funny dent
Hello Ladies!
Well i have been away from the forum for so long, I feel like a newbie all over again.
It has been nearly 8 months since my op. When i had them done I was so happy. My right boob looked a different shape but I always thought 'yeah it will sort itself, just needs to settle'
WELL
It hasn't settled, it has got worse. I have a kind of indentation. half way between the crease and the nipple. I've thought I could see it for a couple of months but thought I was going mad, but now for sure it is there. I have had unders.... and if I tense my chest muscle, it makes the indentation MUCH more apparent. the muscle tightens into this dent.
I finally asked my OH yesterday what he thought. (didn't ask before as he got so bored of talking about boobs haha... and also felt i was being silly)
His response... He said he had noticed they looked different. That my right looked more flat underneath, but he then said 'no ones boobs are perfect' I then showed him my tense muscle trick and he said OMG well definitely go back to the surgeon...
My question is this
What could it be? It appears that maybe the muscle is too tight around the implant?
It is also uncomfortable to lay on my right side, my right boob aches a lot and I still have no feeling from the nipple downwards on that boob.
ANy ideas people???
On the plus side... my left boob is the most perfect looking boob in all the whole wide world :0)
xx

Re: Funny dent
Hmm, could be rippling, that kind of feels like little dents/waves. Usually worse when bending forwards! Most of us have rippling to some degree.
There is also something called muscle distortion, do you do a lot of upper body workouts?

Hi Lisa,
It isn't rippling, It is there all the time and I've had furry brazilians which apparently dont really ripple.
It kind of appears that the muscle is too tight over the implant, or hasn't been stretched enough?
In regards to muscle distortion, I suppose thats kind of what it is but I definitely don't do much upper body work outs... infact I don't work out lol.
When I tense the left boob it moves but it moves the whole implant, whereas the right book, the muscle kind of digs into the implant. The shape is different on each breast too. One being perfect and the other being kind of flat underneath with no curve to it.

Yeah I have unders, and you can see them move when I tense my muscle, something I knew would happen.
Even with furry brazillians, you can get rippling! Although the risk is lower ( approx 6.9%) I believe.
I would advise you go back and see your surgeon hun, especially as you think it is muscle distortion. Good luck, and do keep us updated x

Re: Funny dent
Thanks hun, I have sent him an email this morning, asking for a consultation to show him what I mean, and hopefully go from there. Just a shame that the left is so perfect but the right has the dent. Maybe he can just give me massage techniques (I'm hoping as don't wanna go through the op again lol!)
As i'm typing this, the surgeon has just replied saying he will get his secretary to contact me to make an appointment! Thats quick service!
Thanks again

Re: Funny dent
It does sound like muscle distortion babe.
This can happen if the muscle is too tight. Generally in those that have a muscular upper body or just very tight muscles in the chest. The breast when flexed can look like its 'jumping'
There is an option to resolve this if this is the problem hun so all is not lost... Your surgeon however would consider whether going 'over' the muscle is an option for you. If it is, this will totally resolve the issue.
We've had a few women going from under to over the muscle for this reason with no problems at all babe. Xx

Re: Funny dent
Hi Gz123, one week post op, I couldn't see any dent, still loads of swelling and exciting changes to go through, I'm sure you'll be fine :0)
Cookie and lisa, I have looked at pics online of muscle distortion and I'm almost definite its that. I found an amazing picture of a relaxed boob and then a tensed one and it is definitely what my boob does. Although this woman had it worse AND she was very muscular.
I don't work out at the gym and don't do heavy lifting or anything so its a bit annoying really.
Is the only option going from unders to overs? When I had my op he said I didnt have enough tissue to go over, although I was a 34B (prob actually a 32C) a few people I know have gone over when they have had no boob at all.
I did read somewhere that they can stretch the muscle? Is this possible? it sounds painful....

Re: Funny dent
Also.... with this kind of thing, how does it work in regards to money and stuff?
Would I have to pay the full money again? Just hospital fees, or would it be covered totally?
I don't remember reading anything about muscle distortion in any aftercare package and can't find my documents... silly of me I know

Re: Funny dent
You would have to check with your clinic with regards to aftercare, but I'm sure muscle distortion isn't covered by any aftercare. Also discounts differ from clinic to clinic, so again it's something that needs to be discussed with your surgeon.
Yes they can be moved from under to over the muscle, but there would have been a reason they were placed under, so you will have to discuss the pros and cons of moving them when you see you surgeon.
But there are other alternatives hun, don't let it get you down! The best thing you can do is go back, have a chat with your surgeon, and between you, come up with a plan of action xx

Re: Funny dent
Hiya, sorry to hear your having problems , was reading your post and from what you describe sounds like a complication named window shading where the muscle is released to much (on flexing muscle the muscle rises up causing an indentation in the lower breast between crease and nipple) . Hope you can get it sorted soon, sending you a big hug in the meantime:hugme: .

Re: Funny dent
Hi mirren, thanks for the info. It kind of does that but not to such a bad effect! That looks scary. Some things I read say its muscle being too tight and others say muscle being to loose. From the way it feels it seems its too tight, but who knows!
Got an appointment with my surgeon first week of September so ill let you all know how it goes
