Anything to keep you entertained wether that's your phone, laptop, mags.. Anything you fancy! I've heard flip flops are good for coming home in too, and a few girls say about throat sweets or after your awake and waiting for some food :)
Showering is different for everyone, your normally allowed to shower after your post op check but your just have to wait and see I guess :) xx

There's a list [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] of things you may want to take with you babe
I took a bag of pick n mix in with me. I craved something sweet and these are my fav so were nice to pick at through the night. X
Showering: depending on the dressings you have, if you have waterproof dressings you can shower the next day onwards, if not its generally about a week before you can shower after having a BA and 2 weeks for those having an uplift. Xx

If you do have to wait, you'll manage with shallow baths (if you have a bath - I don't :() and dry shampoo.
You do manage, but do feel pretty dirty in that time. But its short wait and that first shower feels like pure luxury when you have it haha. You wouldn't think we had such a short time to wait. Xx
