Your first shower?
You know once you all got the all clear to shower as normal e.g. one week post op were you worried?
I can't wait to wash properly but is there any extra precautions that need to be taken when showering, will the incisions have closed up properly by then??

Re: Your first shower?
I had my first shower last nite. I was soo scared, exactly why u said. Incase it opened my scars so I jumped under and was out in 5 mins haha. I am still washing my hair bent over the side of the bath incase the shampoo or conditioner gets in the scar. I got the all clear on Friday to shower n bath but not soak the scars for a long period. I think it will take a few showers for me to get more confidant with washing the boobs but I worry about everything possible. But once the nurse says its ok then your fully healed Xxx

Re: Your first shower?
My first shower was 24hrs later it was pretty scary but as long as you dry them straight after you really have nothing to worry about, I used to put extra steri strips on before going in.

Re: Your first shower?
The incision site is 'water tight' about 7 days after the op. If you shower before that, water/soap could get into your boobs and cause an infection.
But after 7 days the water can't get in!

Re: Your first shower?
I was worried but after 14 days in a heat wave I couldn't wait (obviously I'd had shallow baths and washed, or I'd have been a right stinker). It was one of the BEST experiences of my life. I just patted dry the scars afterwards with a clean towel (some use a hari dryer on a cool setting) and job done.
