Hi girls, I'm just over 24 hours post op but I'm having a mini panic...
They have sent me how with some amazing pain relief and muscle relaxants but only enough for 3 days... My worry is that Saturday night and all day Sunday I'm gonna be on my own should I contact my doctor for a prescription tomo or by then is it feasible that I will be able to cope with normal paracetamol?
I think I'm only panicking cos I fell asleep earlier and missed taking them and couldn't move when I woke up - I need to perfect that bum shuffle!

Hi Michelle,

Were you told why you only have 3 days worth of meds? I was given a week's worth and told to contact my doctor if I required more. I think it might be worth contacting your doctor to put your mind at rest and ask for his/her advice, even though it's highly likely you'll be doing well by Saturday. How are you getting on so far? xx

Anything containing codeine or strong pain meds are only to be taken for 3days in case of addiction. You should be fine on just paracetamol by then, but if it does get worse, you can get paracetamol with codeine from your pharmacy non prescription.

You'll be fine hun Hug

The strong meds are only needed early post-op so after that you should be able to get by with the help of icepacks and paracetamol.

Think positive hun. You really will be OK and if you find you can't cope then your GP is at hand and will help if need be. Xx

I was so terrified of the recovery that now I actually feel great  as its not as bad as I had thought!
I feel achey and bruised but with the meds it's definitely manageable at the moment... I think I worked myself up so much before hand that now I'm wondering if this is the calm before the storm lol
Thanks ladies xx

you should be fine with paracetamol by then hun, just make sure you keep on top of them if needed.
like said above you're not meant to be taking cocodamol for more than 3 days anyway due to risk of addiction, and if you can cope without its better for your body anyway x

You may find day 3 causes a little discomfort 'not pain' just discomfort due to the amount of swelling that kicks in by then. But this should be able to be managed by paracetamol and icepacks hun.

If you're not feeling too much discomfort, I'd advise you knock off the heavy pain meds during the day if you can whilst you're up and about which will relieve the swelling, but if you feel you need them then do of course take them. You've enough pain meds to get you over day 3 anyway should you need it hun.

Its funny how people seem to associate a BA with 'real pain' but its not at all like that is it. Its more the discomfort due to how engorged your boobs feel and a heavy weight on your chest.

Ice packs were my saviour throughout my recovery, so if you have none, get someone to nip out and get you a couple of bags of frozen peas. These will help soooooo much placed over the tops of your boobs. Xx

I try to stick to just paracetamol and only move up to anything stronger if its really necessary.. taking lots of codeine based drugs will make you very constipated and can make you feel very sick.

I have mr bump ice packs lol but they are doing the trick for the moment.
I managed with just the muscle relaxants earlier - I think I have a possible plan to take the strong stuff in the morning to get me going and then at night to help me get comfortable - having said that with my ice packs and the muscle ones I'm pretty much comfortable tonight :)

Ooh but coughing hurts! If anyone has any tips for that I'm scared I'll burst my stitches or something! My friend warned me about sneezing this afternoon too :)

Lol sneezing make you feel like your boobs will shoot across the room!

They won't though, just as your stitches won't burst through coughing. You'll have that feeling for a couple of weeks but I wouldn't worry... They're going nowhere.

If you feel you do without strong meds it's so much better for you cheeky. So just take as you need.

Ice packs (even mr bump ones lol) work a treat don't they! Xx

I managed to not sneeze for 2 and a half weeks! It still hurts now a little. Coughing was the worst. Keep water and strepsils nearby to help sooth it. I think it was around wk3 before I could cough properly again. It gets easier.
