How mobile should I be - 1 day post op?
Hi girls,
I was just wondering how mobile or immobile I should be after surgery. Currently propped up in bed watching tv, still have the dvt stockings on! My boobs really hurt so I can't move too much. Should I try and keep mobile regardless? xxx

Its best for you lovely if you can just have a little walk around the house or even the room if you feel that bad every couple of hours or so. Don't take the stockings off whilst you are I'm,oblige babe, only when you feel a little better and are able to get up about more, or if under instruction from your surgeon leave them on for that amount of time specified.
Don't worry, its normal to feel uncomfortable and just want to stay in bed, but if you can it really is best for your body and your healing if you can just talk a little walk around... The more mobile you are the better you'll feel babe, but don't overdo it to try and rush things, listen to your body and rest when you need to.xx

Thanks Cookie! I didn't realise overs would hurt so much! I even said to the nurse the morning, "are you sure Mr Richards went over?" Lol. Think the implants are a tight fit at the moment. I'll try going for a little walk with OH later! xxx

It makes me cringe sometimes when partials are said to bring so much more discomfort than overs...
How you cope with the discomfort is really a personal thing, some deal with pain better than others and this makes a big difference, for some the surgery may be more intrusive, although some may have partials it may not be a tight fit, its a good job for the surgeon and the patient heals better, for some like yourself having overs and the implant is a very tight squeeze, this can bring more discomfort to you than someone having partials...
We do try to prepare everyone and tell ALL that healing is very personal to the person and the mod team will never advise any other way. None of us know how the surgery will go or how we will cope afterwards.
When I had my first surgery with overs I was up, about and feeling great by day 3! When I had my second with overs.... I was floored for 2 weeks!
So don't feel like you're the only one Selena, you're not babe. Lots of ladies having overs are in discomfort that just weren't prepared for post-op because of this misconception.
Sure going partially under the muscle is a more invasive procedure.. But for a surgeon going partially under or over. The surgery can go well... Or it can be tight to get the implant in thus the patient can feel it afterwards.
Big hugs babe

Awww, thanks for that Cookie....you're right though, it is different for everyone. I'm not down about the pain, I think my recovery has been great so far and I don't have any nasty GA side effects which I was more concerned about! Just think the whole 'unders are less painful' issue led me astray a bit!
And thanks Jenniffer - I'll be getting a pic trail up soon so you can have a look xxxx

Swelling can cause a bit of discomfort hun, so no matter if you have over or under it can be uncomfortable afterwards. Ice packs or frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel are fab to take the edge off.

Thanks girls! It's more discomfort than pain today and very bearable, so hopefully it will ease up more over the next few days! I do feel way better than I expected in myself, I was thinking I'd be bed ridden for days! Lol! xxx

Glad you're feeling better Selena. Remember... The more mobile you are... The better you're healing babe.
So do what you can without overdoing it. If you're up to a walk then its good for you to have one babe. Do be careful not to overdo it though. Xx

I will Cookie! My mum and OH took me for lunch today but by desert I was nearly falling asleep so I've been home napping ever since! It was good to get out but it really does tire you! xx
