Deep sedation Empty Deep sedation

Post by Katiebrad 22nd May 2013, 5:53 pm

Evening not been on here for a while but I'm back now and looking into booking my op for the end of July. I am really scared of the GA and have been looking into the deep sedation option (or deep seduction as I rather embarrassedly called it on the phone lol)
What are people's thoughts on this? Having a GA is the one thing in the back of my mind putting a downer on the thought of having my op. I have my two children and that's why I'm too scared to have a GA as knowing my luck il be the one who has complications .

All thoughts and opinions gratefully received,

Katie xx

Those who have had Twilight sedation have found it to be a good experience Katie. There's not a lot of surgeons happy to use the twilight but those that are generally have experience in this already.

You can read one of our members stories who had the twilight sedation [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] if you'd like to Katie. Xx

Hi Katiebrad i have just had the deep sedation on monday i choose that over the ga because i have had probs coming round from the ga in the past i didn't feel a thing whilst having the BA done and found coming round easier i didn't feel out of it i just felt tired closed my eyes for another hour and half sleep and i was fine i would defiantly use deep sedation again

I didn't know this was an option, I too am really worried about the GA, I have had one before but still petrified. Like you having 2 kids just make you think and worry that little bit more

I would love it if they did it under a spinal block. X

Yea kids def made me think different, before I didn't even worry about the Ga but now I feel alot happier as I'm def looking into the sedation now. Also I've not told my family yet so when I have the dreaded conversation with my mum the fact I can say well at least I'm not having a GA will be a bonus lol! Xx

Im sure your surgeon will be happy to go with twilight sedation if it makes you more comfortable.
Good luck in having the talk with your family. They may shock you and be completely supportive x

I hate going under... I dont react very well to a GA so I dread the after effects but I know I couldnt do it while I was awake!

I've never been under so I don't know how I would react, but for me the pros of a sedation are swaying me towards having it :)

I think that sounds really intresting! Im having the GA as ive had it before when i was younger and quite liked it...Haha i came home and tried to walk up the stairs before i was ready, didnt go too well! :)
But If you do go ahead, let us all know how it goes, sounds like a great idea for those who arn't keen on the GA,
Good luck with all of your research and hope you get the date you want xx

Although I had the deep sedation I didn't feel a thing it was as though I was under a ga without having a ga but didn't have the after effects from a ga would have again
