Morning, I'm having one of them days and its only 8.30am! well my period came this morning 4 days early and my BA is tomorrow do you think I can still go ahead? I am always heavy on my 2nd day what will be tomorrow! I never worked this out very well!

Yes hun you will be fine, just take some long night time towels and comfy pants. The nurses can help sort you out to initially. If you need to wear paper pants obvilously tell them. I had my period over a week ago and I still had a break through bleed after surgery. Maybe take some feminuim hygiene wipes to make you feel a bit fresher too. xx

I'm feeling much better today thanks, I managed to pretty much get a full nights sleep taking last pain killers at 2200 lasting until 0700! x

That sounds good but I don't think I've had a full nights sleep in years I've got a 5 year old 2 year old and my little boy is one in Sat! I'm looking forward to the night stay not having to get up! my husband ant looking forward to the next few weeks as he has to do it all! x

Dont worry I was on my period on my first op and I just had to take my tampon out and where a towel instead!

Maybe take a pair of your own cotton knickers and ask if you can wear those (ive read that some people were allowed to do that?) because those paper knickers were so flimsy, I can't imagine them holding a towel on, and especially a thicker one if you're heavy on the second day? x

I had my period and was able to wear my own cotton knickers I had to wear a saint towel with paper knickers. Not very nice but my modestly was maintained at all times. I was gowned so nobody could see and when in theatre I was just asked to remove my arms from the gown but was still kept covered. So as far as I was aware no-one saw anyway shrug

Having a period when having a BA isn't a big deal. Sure, you'd rather not have to deal with it if that were possible, but for some of us its simply not.

You'll cope just fine sweetie and will have nothing to worry about. As 5stdown said though, whilst 'in theatre' you won't be able to use a tampon, but after coming out of theatre you can use your tampon if you'd prefer rather than having to sleep in big pads. Xx

I will be the same, my period came on the 4th May and my surgery is on 5th June so i will more than likely have mine on my surgery day! What a nightmare lol but as the girls have recommended i plan to just take some sanitary towels with me and hopefully that should do the trick xx

Now I've got to try find some cotton knickers I know I have some from when I had the kids I got loads of pain ones and never used them so I will have try find some. I went to boots and got towels so I'll be fine :) x
