Good to go?
So I've had my six week check today, and I've been given the all clear to treat them as my own!! Of course I got measured straight away, blow away by 34dd/32E size i was given, as I was only aiming for C cup!
I was told to start massaging them, I'm just not sure how? anyone got any advice??

Re: Good to go?
The massage was probably for your scars Jos, because textured breast implants don't need massage at all but it would be best to all and check with your surgeon/clinic babe.
Generally though at 6 weeks its your scars - you then start using bio-oil or moisturiser (on the advise only of your surgeon/clinic) then using small circular motions with the tips of your fingers just apply a little pressure to the scar at first until you feel confident and then a good firm pressure using the circular motions from side to side on your scar. This massage is what helps to break down the scar tissue so you get a nice flat scar. Xx

Re: Good to go?
My massage instructions have been as follows:
at 10 days post-op - massage the scars with oil/ aqueous lotion with fingertips as cookie says. At first this was minimal pressure, but I have been doing it for over a month now and have moved on to much more pressure and very little sensitivity. I do this twice a day - morning is literally a minute each side after my shower. At night I make sure each side gets 5 minutes. Either in front of the tv (!) or my little ritual when in bed. OH thinks it's entertaining every time he's around!
at 6 week post-op - with textured anatomicals - I have been told to massage my breast with the palm of my hand in large circular motions and as much pressure as I can comfortably. He showed me by pushing my hand in the motion on my breast with the pressure he suggests. My ps said it encourages healing, breaks down any scar tissue forming (and by this I assumed it was also discouraging capsular build-up)..

Re: Good to go?
You should always ask your surgeon the 'reason' why they would suggest massage of the textured implants as due to the textured shell, massage isn't needed, or recommended at all unless specified for a purpose by your surgeon.
I was advised at 6 weeks post-op to massage my breast at top to encourage a stubborn boob to drop. The reason for massage was explained to me and I was monitored throughout.
You can read anywhere online for yourself about massage and textured implants but I'll just add a quote here for you:

The general consensus is that textured breast implants should not be massaged because this may lead to interruption of the implant adherence process. The goal of textured breast implants is that the implants should adhere to underlying breast tissue. Though, some plastic surgeons might advise massage for certain patients with textured breast implants. In this case, the patient should ask the plastic surgeon why they are recommending massage. Smooth breast implants are often the type of breast implant that is recommended for massage.

I agree with cookie, best to check up to be 100% sure how and what you should be massaging.
