Infection
Hey all, I'm 15days post op and noticed my boobs are hot and red and pus on my bandages this morning, called my clinic straightaway and been to see them at 11:30am.
They've given me more anti bs but said I need 3-4 days more off work. I'm self employed high security courier, I really can't afford more time off. I've took another day off (Tuesday) and seeing nurse as well tomorrow for her to clean incisions. Is it imperative I take more time off? Thanks in advance for replies xxx

Re: Infection
aw hope you feel better soon hun! i think what they probably wanted to say was make sure you get enough rest as your body will need to fight the infection!
i normally never take sick leave or anything, but depends on how strenuous your job is, you really don't want to compromise your health for the sake of another 1-2 days x

Re: Infection
If it was myself, i would defo take another few days off work. You've just paid a lit for new boobs so you need to look after your investment. Hope you feel better soon, you'll be back to work in no time. I hate taking time off work so it must be even worse for you as you're self employed. I'd definitely be taking the dr's and nurses advice though, xxxx

Re: Infection
Take the advice xxx you don't want to go back to work and over do it get worse then you need another week off because your sick again or have strained yourself xxx I can imagine it's rubbish I don't get paid sick leave so I'd hate to have to have any more time off if anything was to happen x but your health is important xxx rest and let your body fight the infection wit the anti b's x hope your feeling ok xxxxxx be bk to normal in no time I'm sure xxxx lots of love xxx

Re: Infection
Oh no, Hexxi so sorry to hear this. I'd prob listen to what they are advising. If the incisions are a little infected they prob won't be knitting together etc quite so well. You don't want to over do if and put tension on your breasts / incisions. Do you do lots of lifting and manual work / lifting in your job? Your body needs to rest so it can put everything into fighting the infection. Working might prolong it and set you back a bit. Not following advice might result in you having to take even more time off in the near future, better to settle and rest now than let things get worse - god forbid, not saying that as in they are! Must be really hard being self employed. Thinking of you.

Re: Infection
I would definatly listen to your clinic hun x you don't want to risk going back to work if they have told you not to. I do understand that financially it will be hard, but if you don't do what they say it could get worse and you could end up having to have even more time off xx

Re: Infection
Oh not you too! Hun I would listen to them, I know the pain I ve had across the bits of my incisions that are infected have been quite bad at times. I know if you are self employed it means you're another week with out income but really not worth risking your new boobies. Is there no one else that could help you maybe? Let us know how you go. xx

Re: Infection
Thanks all for your replies, just so worried I'm going to lose my route then ill be in more bother with no income at all! Ill see how I feel tomorrow and what the other nurse says. It's active walking wise, no lifting as I said to them I couldn't after I came back. I deliver passports and credit cards and such so nothing heavy at all just walking back and forth from my car. I know Dora I thought exactly the same as I'd read your previous thread, hope your infection is clearing up xx

Re: Infection
I think they would be more worried about the driving part of your job. Are you going to be driving your route or could someone maybe drive you around.
Re: Infection
Yes I'd be driving, got my appointment this afternoon at 2pm for the nurse to clean and re-dress my dressings. Ill just wait and see how it goes. No point in getting stressed over it xx

Re: Infection
Hoping all goes well Hexi.
Do listen to your post-op instruction babe. They advise in your best interest and an infection could result in the explant of your implant if things do get worse and I'm sure this is the last thing you'd want to happen, so whatever it takes to get that infection under control, that's what you should do Hexi. Your surgeon or clinic nurse knows best... So although I totally understand with being self employed the need to keep your contracts, the need to keep that implant right now needs to take priority. Xx

Re: Infection
Sorry to read there's still some infection there babe. You take it easy now and take good care of yourself
A healthy diet and upping your protein intake helps sweetie (I just added an egg a day to my diet) and hopefully things will start to heal up now. Xx

Re: Infection
Ah, glad you're taking a bit more time off. In the case of infection, you want to give your body the best chance of fighting and recovering. Just a few more days of sofa surfing then I'm sure you'll feel fine!
Re: Infection
I've definitely had enough off being off work though lol want to get back to my routine!! Thanks for all your replies. Cookie I will add some more protein to my diet xx

Re: Infection
It'll do you good Hexxi... Also getting some air to the wound will help also, so if its possible, just lay braless with the window open and when the window cleaners not about lol for an hour a day or in the evening if you'd prefer and get that fresh air to the wound. You'll be surprised how much this helps.
If you're in inodine dressings though its best not to remove them. Xx

Re: Infection
