Stretched skin
The skin on my boobs still feels quite stretched and shiny to the touch. I am 6 weeks po today and just wondered when my skin might start to get back to normal.
I still have no feeling in my nipples or below although I have feeling everywhere else.
Thanks
Xx

Re: Stretched skin
Yeah I really found that it stopped the dry stretched feeling. But if you havnt been given the go ahead to use things on your scars, make sure you keep it away from them hun x and I know it's not easy, but try and do it regularly, I moisturised at least twice a day. I found the bio oil great for my scars, but it gave me spot on my boobs lol x x

Re: Stretched skin
Ok I will start to do it more often and hopefully it will help. I haven't been given the all clear for bio oil on my scars yet, I'm going to go see my surgeon and ask.
Thank you

Re: Stretched skin
Doesn't bio oil or moisturising the scars make them soft and moist, and reverse the healing?? I thought they were supposed to be dry and closing up?

Re: Stretched skin
Once they're closed up you can use bio oil that's why you need the all clear from the surgeon first x

Re: Stretched skin
Ohhhh! Thanks for clearing that up ladies.
Also has anyone heard of Dermastix scar sheets? They are meant to be good for helping the scar fade away? x

Re: Stretched skin
Its not worth spending lots of money of scar treatments unless you specifically need them (bad or keloid scarring) bio-oil, or just simple moisturiser is all that's needed. Its really more about the motions the oil or cream enables you to do - make circular motions across the scar that matters, the oils/creams just make that easier to do. Its this motion that actually breaks down the scar tissue and leaves a nice flat scar. Have to say though. My first scars were simply left well alone and they healed beautifully. I didnt use anything on them at all. Never ver use anything at all on scars though until you get the all clear from your surgeon/clinic. This is generally anything between 4 to 12 weeks depending on your individual heal. We all heal at different rates, so never follow anyone else's healing. Focus on your own and only listen to your own surgeon/nurse.
Daisy - the stretched skin can last as long as 3 to 6 months hun... It may be sooner, but on average that's how long the skin is held tight lovely. So don't worry, you're very early days yet and you look great in your avi! Xx

Re: Stretched skin
Agree with cookie, I had shiny skin for a good while it eventually calms down but can last a few months.
Re: Stretched skin
I had stretched skin for a good few months, and was told not to put anything on my scars at all. It's best to go with your surgeon's advice. After all, they provide your aftercare.
