Op yesterday...what happens now??
So I've logged on here religiously and read most topics, but now I can't remember anything and don't know what to expect post-op.
I've woken up and obs feel a bit sore, well its just the incisions that feel sore, the actual boobs are numb, as are my nipples. I haven't taken any painkillers yet, gonna try and soldier it out without them until I really can't take it (which might be soon lol).
I've just gone for a wee and still feel a bit wobbly so I went downstairs to get the biggest bottle of water and now I'm in back in bed swigging away, going to drink as much water as I can to help my body heal as quickly as poss.
I wasn't told anything about not sleeping on my side, not was i told about washing/showers, so thank god I have this forum as I would be clueless right about now! Actually I just have some paperwork that I just read, from my pre-op appointment and it says on there about not getting the incisions wet.
So basically what do I do now, just rest? When is ok to get out the house, when the pain subsides?
I start a new (office) job on Monday 13th (in 2 weeks and 2 days) so I'm hoping I'll be fully mobile with no pain by then.
Any tip, any advice from the post-up girls would be amazing. xxx

Re: Op yesterday...what happens now??
You will be fine in two weeks for your new job hun. My advice is although you will need to take naps and rest, you don't need to be in bed, you can have wanders around the house, you can go out for a little walk in the sunshine if you want to. Painkillers, well you may need them, at least for a day or two, but of course see how you feel. Shallow baths are great for having a wash but not getting your top half wet, then washing your top half with a damp flannel.

Re: Op yesterday...what happens now??
You'll have to sleep on your back propped up for about 7-10 days. Lying in bed all day is not good for you, it's good to have a little wander around. No shower until 7 days usually, you'll be given advice on this at your 1 week check x

Re: Op yesterday...what happens now??
Princess the nurse didn't tell me anything about sleeping sitting up, i only know this from ladies so I'm glad I'm on here and so grateful for you all. Got my v pillow and 8 normal pillows so I'm fully supported and comfy. What is the purpose of sleeping anyway, is it encourage them to drop?
Ive been up and down to the toilet all day from drinking all this water and have been downstairs a couple of times. Is it not better to stay rested and relaxed so the body can concentrate on healing the boobs rather than using energy for walking around?? x

Re: Op yesterday...what happens now??
It's to reduce the swelling. not to mention if you actually slept flat on your back it would be pretty impossible and painful to get back up! no it's better to go for little wanders now and again to keep mobile, as after GA you're at risk of DVT x
